Pro-Ject T1 Evo Turntable

Overview

The Pro-Ject T1 Evo is an entry-level turntable built around the same "no plastic" philosophy Pro-Ject uses on its pricier decks. The plinth is CNC-machined with no hollow spaces to avoid unwanted vibration, and it pairs with a heavy, blasted-glass platter instead of the plastic or thin steel platters common at this price point.

Its one-piece aluminum tonearm has an integrated headshell rather than a detachable one, reducing an extra source of vibration, and it comes with a pre-mounted Ortofon OM10 cartridge with an elliptical stylus. A Connect it E phono cable — Pro-Ject's own semi-symmetrical, low-capacitance design rather than a generic RCA cable — is included.

This is the base T1 Evo, which outputs a direct (unamplified) phono signal to your amplifier's phono input or an external phono preamp.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

The glass platter is the detail that stands out on the T1 Evo at this price — most turntables in this range use plastic or thin steel, and glass does a better job of staying resonance-free. If you don't already have a phono input on your amplifier or receiver, ask us about the T1 Evo Phono variant, which adds a switchable phono preamp so you can connect straight into a line-level input instead.

More Info

Why the T1 Evo Stands Out

Blasted-Glass Platter

An 8mm heavy glass platter avoids the resonance issues common with plastic or thin steel platters at this price.

One-Piece Aluminum Tonearm

An integrated headshell (rather than detachable) removes an extra source of vibration from the signal path.

Ortofon OM10 Cartridge

A Moving Magnet cartridge with an elliptical diamond stylus, pre-mounted and ready to play.

Included Connect it E Phono Cable

Ships with Pro-Ject's own semi-symmetrical, low-capacitance phono cable instead of a generic RCA cable.

CNC-Machined, No-Plastic Plinth

Manufactured with no hollow spaces inside the chassis, cutting down on unwanted internal vibration.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • First-Time Turntable Buyers — want a real hi-fi turntable, built with proper materials, at an entry-level price.
  • Owners With an Existing Phono Input — already have a phono input on their amp or receiver and don't need a built-in preamp.
  • Design-Conscious Listeners — want a choice of high gloss, satin, or wood finishes rather than a single stock color.

How It Compares

The base T1 Evo outputs an unamplified phono signal, so it needs a phono input or external preamp somewhere in your system. The T1 Evo Phono adds a switchable built-in phono preamp for connecting straight into any line-level input, and the T1 Evo BT adds a Bluetooth transmitter on top of that for wireless listening. If your amp already has a phono input, the base T1 Evo is all you need.

Pro-Ject T1 Evo Turntable FAQs

How do I change the playback speed on the Pro-Ject T1 Evo Turntable?

The Pro-Ject T1 Evo features a built-in electronic speed switch, allowing you to easily toggle between 33⅓ RPM and 45 RPM by flipping a switch. This eliminates the need to manually adjust the belt position when changing record types.

Does the Pro-Ject T1 Evo Turntable come with a built-in phono preamp?

The standard Pro-Ject T1 Evo model does not include a built-in phono preamp. However, there is a variant called the T1 Evo Phono that comes with an integrated, switchable phono stage, allowing direct connection to amplifiers or speakers without a separate preamp.

What should I do if I experience hum issues with my Pro-Ject T1 Evo Turntable?

Hum issues can arise from various sources, such as grounding problems or external electrical interference. Ensure that the ground wire is securely connected to your amplifier or receiver. Additionally, keep power cables and other electronic devices away from the turntable and its connections to minimize potential interference.

Is the Pro-Ject T1 Evo Turntable compatible with wireless speakers?

The standard Pro-Ject T1 Evo does not have built-in wireless capabilities. However, the T1 Evo BT variant includes a built-in Bluetooth transmitter, allowing you to wirelessly connect the turntable to Bluetooth-enabled speakers, headphones, or amplifiers.
