Pro-ject Debut Recordmaster II Turntable with USB (OM5e) - Black
Overview
The Pro-Ject Debut Recordmaster II pairs a proper hi-fi turntable with a built-in USB output, so you can enjoy your records the normal way and digitize them at the same time. It comes with an Ortofon OM5e cartridge pre-mounted on an 8.6" aluminum tonearm, and a 1.3kg steel platter with a felt mat for stable, low-noise playback.
A built-in, switchable MM phono preamp means the Recordmaster II can connect straight to a line-level input on your amplifier or receiver, and its USB-B output lets you record from the same connection at the same time, without switching cables back and forth. Electronic speed switching covers 33 and 45 RPM, and a manual belt change (with a separate OM78 stylus, sold separately) opens up 78 RPM playback for older records.
In the box you'll find the Recordmaster II, a Connect it RCA cable, a dust cover, an adapter for 7" singles, and its power supply — everything needed to get a turntable running and recording vinyl the same day.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
The built-in switchable phono preamp is the detail that makes the Recordmaster II a good fit for customers who don't already have a phono stage — you can run it straight into a regular line-level input and skip buying a separate preamp. We point vinyl collectors who want to digitize an existing record collection toward this model specifically for that reason: the USB output and line-level RCA connection both work off the same cartridge signal, so recording and listening aren't an either/or choice.

Why the Debut Recordmaster II Stands Out
Built-In Switchable Phono Preamp
Connects straight to a line-level input on your amp or receiver, no separate phono stage required.
USB-B Output for Digitizing
Record vinyl to a PC or Mac at up to 48kHz through 16-bit Delta Sigma A/D conversion, using the same connection as your regular playback.
Ortofon OM5e Cartridge
A moving magnet cartridge pre-mounted at the factory, so there's no cartridge alignment needed out of the box.
Steel Platter with Felt Mat
A 1.3kg steel platter keeps rotation stable, with a felt mat to protect records and reduce static.
Three-Speed Capability
Electronic switching covers 33 and 45 RPM, and a manual belt change adds 78 RPM playback for older records (a separate OM78 stylus is required and sold separately).
Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- Vinyl Collectors Going Digital — want to archive an existing record collection to their computer without buying separate recording gear.
- First-Time Turntable Owners — the built-in preamp means it connects to a regular amplifier or receiver without any extra components.
- 78 RPM Record Owners — one of the few current Pro-Ject turntables that can play 78s with a stylus and belt change.
How It Compares
The Debut Recordmaster II is built specifically around USB digitizing and a built-in phono preamp — features the standard Debut EVO 2 doesn't include. If digitizing your collection isn't a priority and you want a more refined tonearm and cartridge for pure listening, the Debut EVO 2 is the better starting point; if getting your records onto a computer is the goal, the Recordmaster II is built for exactly that.
