Klipsch RP-1600SW 16" Subwoofer

Overview

Some rooms and some soundtracks need more subwoofer than almost anything else on the market can provide, and that's exactly the gap the Klipsch RP-1600SW is built to fill.

The RP-1600SW is a 16" powered subwoofer built around a Cerametallic woofer engineered for high excursion at the top of Klipsch's Reference Premiere lineup. A Class D amplifier with an analog preamp design delivers 800W RMS (1600W peak), among the most powerful subwoofer amplifiers Klipsch offers.

A front-firing driver with an Aerofoil slot port minimizes turbulence for tight, controlled bass even at extreme output. The MDF cabinet is finished in scratch-resistant ebony vinyl with rounded corners, and it's wireless-ready with the Klipsch WA-2 kit (sold separately).

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

The RP-1600SW is the subwoofer we spec for Central Ontario clients building a dedicated cinema room or a large open-concept space where a single, smaller sub would need to work too hard to keep up — its scale means it reaches reference output with real headroom to spare rather than running near its limit.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The Dedicated Cinema Room Owner: wants the most output Klipsch's Reference Premiere line offers.
  • The Large-Space Listener: needs a single subwoofer to fill an open-concept or oversized room.
  • The Reference Premiere System Owner: pairs naturally with Klipsch's flagship RP tower and bookshelf speakers.

How It Compares

The RP-1600SW is the flagship of Klipsch's Reference Premiere subwoofer lineup, sitting above the RP-1400SW with a larger 16" driver and an 800W amplifier for even deeper extension (14.5Hz vs. 16Hz) and more headroom. For most dedicated theatres, the RP-1400SW is plenty; for the largest rooms or the most demanding reference-level output, the RP-1600SW is Klipsch's top choice.
