FiiO PL50 Regulated Linear Power Supply
Overview
Switching-mode power adapters are cheap and compact, but the high-frequency noise they generate can make its way into a connected DAC or amplifier's analog stage.
The FiiO PL50 is a regulated linear power supply built as an audiophile upgrade over a stock switching adapter. It's built around a customized 50W toroidal transformer using Nippon Steel iron core and oxygen-free copper windings, a Shindengen 25A/600V bridge rectifier, and a Texas Instruments voltage regulator chip, outputting a switchable 12V or 15V at up to 3A with less than 20mV of ripple.
A 3-digit digital display shows output status at a glance, and the whole unit is housed in an aluminum-magnesium alloy chassis for both durability and electromagnetic shielding.
