FiiO FH7s Hybrid Driver Audiophile In-Ear Monitors (IEMs)
Overview
The FiiO FH7s is a hybrid in-ear monitor with one 13.6mm DLC dynamic driver and four Knowles balanced armatures per ear, in FiiO's second-generation semi-open design. It brings much of FiiO's FH9 approach down to a four-armature layout, for listeners who want deep, natural bass, clear vocals, and an open, spacious sound.
The FH7s uses the same 13.6mm Diamond-Like Carbon dynamic driver as the FH9, and the light, rigid diaphragm gives quick, punchy bass with plenty of extension. Two DFK mid-range armatures, custom-made by FiiO and Knowles, handle vocals, and a Knowles SWFK-31736 dual armature delivers airy, detailed treble. FiiO's patented S.TURBO tube adds depth to the bass, and a dedicated notch filter removes resonances between the shell, sound tube, and ear canal to cut sibilance. The semi-open design balances pressure between the front and rear cavities for a large soundstage and less ear fatigue.
Three tuning filters give bold-bass, balanced, or detailed-treble sounds, with the white filters installed out of the box. The cable uses 152 wires of silver-plated monocrystalline copper in an 8-strand Litz braid, with MMCX connectors and twist-lock swappable 3.5mm and 4.4mm plugs. FiiO includes 19 pairs of ear tips, including its HS18 tips that debuted on the FH7s, plus an HB5 case.

The FH7s is a strong choice if you want hybrid bass with a more open, out-of-the-head sound than a sealed IEM gives. Because it's semi-open, it lets in more outside noise than a sealed design, so it's best for home, office, or quiet commutes. At 18 ohms and 104dB, it runs well from a dongle DAC or portable player. Start with the pre-installed white filters, then try the others once you know how it sounds with your music.
