Overview
CDs never really went away for a lot of listeners, but most portable CD players left on the market today are decades-old designs with no way to send that sound anywhere except through a wired headphone jack.
The FiiO DM13 BT is a retro-styled portable CD player built around dual Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC chips and a Qualcomm Bluetooth platform, so a CD can play back through wired headphones or transmit wirelessly with aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, aptX, or standard SBC. A 1.5-inch high-contrast LCD display shows track and playback information on the player's retro-inspired body.
A 3750mAh battery plays for up to 10 hours from either the 3.5mm or 4.4mm balanced output, and the USB-C port handles charging as well as USB audio output. Optical and coaxial digital outputs round out the connections for sending the DM13 BT's CD transport into an external DAC or amplifier.
