Overview
The Bowers & Wilkins ASW608 is the most compact model in the 600 Series subwoofer lineup, built around a sealed (acoustic suspension) enclosure driven by an 8-inch (200mm) paper/aramid fibre long-throw driver and a 200-watt ICEpower® amplifier. It's designed to add fast, controlled low end to a stereo or home theatre system without taking up much floor space.
Because the cabinet is sealed rather than ported, the ASW608 trades some maximum output for tighter, more controlled bass. A rear-panel Bass Extension switch lets you choose between three roll-off points (-6dB at 23Hz, 28Hz, or 36Hz) to match the subwoofer to your room, and an active 4th-order low-pass filter with adjustable cutoff and bypass makes it easy to blend with your main speakers or hand bass management off to an AV receiver.
Independent RCA line-level and speaker-level binding post inputs, each with its own volume control, mean the ASW608 can connect to either a two-channel preamp or a receiver's speaker outputs, and its auto sense circuit brings it out of a 0.5-watt standby state as soon as it detects a signal.
