Bowers & Wilkins 606 S3 Bookshelf Speakers - (Pair)
Overview
A stand mount speaker doesn't need a big cabinet to fill a room, and the Bowers & Wilkins 606 S3 proves it as the larger of the two stand mount models in the current 600 Series lineup.
A Titanium Dome tweeter handles the highs from a decoupled double-dome design, delivering smooth, refined high-frequency reproduction without the harshness that can creep in at higher volumes. Below it, a 6.5-inch Continuum cone covers bass and midrange, avoiding the abrupt behaviour changes that show up in conventional cone materials for open, neutral vocals and instruments. The tweeter grille mesh borrows its acoustically transparent design from B&W's Signature models, and the rear speaker terminals use the improved layout introduced on the 700 Series for a cleaner signal path.
Frequency response runs 52Hz to 28kHz (±3dB), with distortion under 1% from 100Hz to 22kHz, and the 2-way design pairs well with 30W to 120W amplifiers into its 8-ohm load. The cabinet is available in Black, White, or Oak, and doesn't include stands.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
The 606 S3 doesn't ship with stands, so plan for a rigid, mass-loaded pair (or a comparable option) rather than a bookshelf ledge — a hollow or unstable surface will undercut the bass control this speaker is capable of. Its foam port plugs are worth using if you need to place the cabinets close to a wall or in a bookshelf, since the Flowport is tuned for open placement. And with rear terminals derived from the 700 Series layout, bi-wiring or bi-amping is straightforward if your system calls for it.

Why the Bowers & Wilkins 606 S3 Stands Out
Decoupled Double Dome Titanium Tweeter
The Titanium Dome tweeter uses a decoupled double-dome design with an acoustically transparent mesh grille borrowed from B&W's Signature models.
6.5-Inch Continuum Cone Driver
The Continuum cone bass/midrange driver avoids the abrupt behaviour changes of conventional cone materials, keeping vocals and instruments open and uncoloured.
Flowport Reflex Venting
A rear-firing Flowport reduces port noise and turbulence, with foam tuning plugs included for placement closer to walls or shelving.
700 Series-Derived Terminals
Upgraded rear terminals use the improved layout introduced on the 700 Series, shortening the signal path and supporting bi-wire or bi-amp configurations.
Three Cabinet Finishes
Available in Black, White, or Oak, with matching grille colours for each finish.
Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- Medium-Sized Rooms Without Space for Towers: A compact stand mount cabinet delivers 600 Series scale without the footprint of a floorstanding pair.
- Home Theatre Front Channels: Voice-matched with the HTM6 S3 centre channel and 607 S3 surrounds for a consistent front-to-back tonal match.
- Bi-Amp and Bi-Wire Systems: 700 Series-derived rear terminals are ready for separate amplification without an adapter.
How It Compares
Next to the 706 S3, B&W's equivalent stand mount speaker in the 700 Series, the 606 S3 uses the same Titanium Dome tweeter and 6.5-inch Continuum bass/midrange driver in a 2-way layout, but the 706 S3 steps up to a Decoupled Carbon Dome tweeter for a more refined top end. Both share the same driver sizes and cabinet layout, so the choice comes down to how much of a step up in tweeter technology you're looking for.
