Sounds great but the play fi app needs help

I usually follow What HiFi recommendations and in this case, contritely, it was not my first choice. I did get to amend this eventually. I’m using it for Amazon Music HD exclusively- as a transport- the decoding is done on my Cambridge Audio integrated amp. Works great, setup on LAN was a breeze. App is basic but functional and I have not had any crashes or hang-ups. Sound quality is excellent. I see some users have complained about the quality of the internal DAC- have not had a chance to test it and I probably won’t get to it. The trusty CA is plentiful.

Easy to set up. Sounds very good and will play VERY high resolution files.Immediately found and connected to my NAS, plays Spotify, Tidal, the local files on any of my devices, and anything DLNA enabled on the network.The control app is a little clunky but I have a cheap tablet in my Living Room that has all the remote controls for my home theatre and stereo equipment and streaming services that I use as the control and it is rock solid functional, if a bit slow.There are NO controls or remote on this device. Presets that I doubt I will ever even set but no play, pause, skip... nothing.

I’m old school…I listen to LPs, CDs, and open reels. I use a tube amp and a tube phono stage. You get the idea. At the same time, the 21st century is in full swing, and I needed to add an audio streaming device to my arsenal. I looked at the reviews vs. the price, not just Amazon reviews but HiFi reviews as well, and decided that I had nothing to lose, so I pulled the trigger and grabbed this unit. I set a special space aside where I could quickly pack it up and return it if I didn’t like it. Well…I’m delighted with the sound that’s coming from this streamer. It’s musical, was easy to set up and my network found it quickly. Downloaded and installed the updates and away we went. I have to learn the app and the Alexa integration but I’m thrilled with the sound and that’s what’s most important to me. It’s definitely a keeper. And it gives you bang for the buck. I may even leave it where I installed it!
