Milty Zerostat 3 Anti-Static Gun

Overview

Static buildup on a record surface attracts dust right back after every cleaning, and it's often the real source of pops and crackle that a cleaning fluid or brush alone can't fully solve.

The Milty Zerostat 3 is a hand-triggered anti-static gun built around piezo-electric crystals: squeezing the trigger releases a stream of ions of one polarity, and releasing the trigger sends out an equal stream of the opposite polarity. Passed a short distance over a record, CD, or other electronics surface, this neutralizes static charge directly, without sprays, brushes, or contact with the surface itself.

It requires no batteries and no refills, and contains no radioactive elements — the ionizing effect comes entirely from the mechanical squeeze-and-release action of its piezo-electric crystals.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

The Zerostat 3 works best as a complement to regular record cleaning, not a replacement for it — it neutralizes static charge so a clean record attracts less dust after the fact, rather than removing dirt or debris that's already on the surface. A slow, full squeeze and a slow, full release, held a few inches from the record, gives the ion stream time to do its job; a fast trigger pull gives a much weaker effect.

Why the Milty Zerostat 3 Stands Out

No Batteries or Refills

Generates its ion streams mechanically from a squeeze-and-release trigger action, with nothing to recharge or replace.

No Radioactive Elements

Some static-removal brushes rely on a radioactive polonium strip; the Zerostat 3 neutralizes static entirely through its piezo-electric mechanism instead.

No Sprays or Contact Needed

Works from a short distance above the surface, so there's no fluid to apply and no direct contact with the record itself.

Works on Records, CDs, and Other Surfaces

Useful anywhere static causes dust attraction or minor shocks, not just on vinyl.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The Vinyl Collector: wants to cut down on static-attracted dust and the surface noise that comes with it.
  • The Careful Cleaner: prefers a tool with no sprays, no batteries, and no radioactive components as part of a record-care routine.
  • The Long-Time Owner: wants a simple, mechanical tool that doesn't need refills or replacement parts over years of use.

How It Compares

Unlike an anti-static brush that relies on a radioactive polonium strip or a cleaning fluid that has to be reapplied and can leave residue, the Zerostat 3 neutralizes static through a purely mechanical piezo-electric action, with nothing consumed or replaced over its lifetime.

Milty Zerostat 3 Anti-Static Gun FAQs

Does the Milty Zerostat 3 need batteries?

No. It generates its ion streams mechanically from piezo-electric crystals triggered by squeezing and releasing the handle, with no batteries or refills needed.

Is the Milty Zerostat 3 radioactive?

No. Unlike some anti-static brushes that use a radioactive polonium strip, the Zerostat 3 neutralizes static entirely through its piezo-electric mechanism.

How do I use the Milty Zerostat 3?

Hold it a short distance from the record, CD, or other surface, then slowly squeeze the trigger fully and slowly release it fully. A slow, complete squeeze and release gives the ion streams time to work; a fast trigger pull is much less effective.

Does the Milty Zerostat 3 clean the record itself?

No. It neutralizes static charge so a clean record attracts less dust afterward — it's a complement to regular record cleaning, not a replacement for removing dirt already on the surface.
