Klipsch RP-1000SW 10" Subwoofer

Overview

Bass-heavy movies and full-range music both demand real power handling, and a subwoofer that can't keep up is the fastest way to lose impact from a home theatre or stereo system. The Klipsch RP-1000SW is built to provide it.

The RP-1000SW is a 10" powered subwoofer built around a Cerametallic woofer, engineered for high power handling and low distortion at high excursion. A high-efficiency Class D amplifier with an analog preamp design delivers 300W RMS (600W peak) while preserving a clean, true-to-source signal path.

A front-firing driver with an Aerofoil slot port minimizes turbulence for tight, controlled bass, and lets you place the subwoofer virtually anywhere in the room. The cabinet is finished in scratch-resistant ebony vinyl with rounded corners, shock-absorbing rubber feet, and a durable woven cloth grille, and the RP-1000SW is wireless-ready with the Klipsch WA-2 kit (sold separately).

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

For Central Ontario clients who want subwoofer placement flexibility without a wire run across the room, the RP-1000SW's WA-2 wireless compatibility is worth the extra cost — you can connect up to four WA-2 kits to Reference Premiere subwoofers in one room, which is more than enough headroom for even a multi-sub home theatre setup.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The Home Theatre Builder: wants real low-end impact without a huge subwoofer footprint.
  • The Wireless-Placement Seeker: values front-firing, room-flexible placement with WA-2 wireless compatibility.
  • The Music Listener: wants bass that extends below what bookshelf or floor-standing speakers can reach on their own.

How It Compares

The RP-1000SW is the smallest of Klipsch's Reference Premiere subwoofers, sitting below the RP-1200SW, RP-1400SW, and RP-1600SW. All four share the same Cerametallic woofer design and Class D amplifier architecture, but each step up adds driver size and power for larger rooms. For a typical living room or secondary theatre, the RP-1000SW is plenty; for a dedicated theatre or larger space, the RP-1200SW or larger is worth considering.

Klipsch RP-1000SW 10" Subwoofer FAQs

What makes the Klipsch RP-1000SW's Cerametallic woofer well-suited to deep bass?

The RP-1000SW's 10-inch Cerametallic woofer is built to stay light and rigid under heavy excursion, giving it better power handling and cone control than a standard woofer. That translates to deeper, more accurate bass with reduced distortion.

What type of amplifier powers the RP-1000SW, and how does it affect the subwoofer's performance?

The subwoofer is equipped with a high-efficiency Class D amplifier that delivers 300 watts RMS and 600 watts peak power. This powerful amplification ensures dynamic bass performance with low distortion, allowing the subwoofer to handle demanding low-frequency effects in movies and music effectively.

How does the front-firing port design of the RP-1000SW influence its placement options and bass response?

The RP-1000SW employs a front-firing Aerofoil slot port design, which minimizes turbulence for crisp, tight bass. This design allows for flexible placement within a room, as it reduces unwanted resonance from walls or furniture behind the subwoofer, ensuring more consistent bass response regardless of positioning.

What controls are available on the RP-1000SW to tailor its performance to specific room acoustics and speaker setups?

The subwoofer offers flexible controls, including a Low Pass Crossover and Variable Phase control, enabling users to adjust the subwoofer's performance to match their specific speakers and room acoustics for a well-integrated setup.
