Kanto Sub6 Sealed Powered Subwoofer
Overview
Small rooms and desktop systems often lose the bottom end of music, movies, and games simply because there's no floor space for a full-size subwoofer. Kanto built the Sub6 to close that gap without asking you to give up desk or floor space to do it.
The Sub6 is a sealed powered subwoofer built around a 6-inch paper cone woofer and a Class D amplifier rated at 100 watts RMS (200 watts peak). Its sealed cabinet keeps the woofer's motion tightly controlled, so bass notes start and stop cleanly instead of trailing into the boomy decay that's common with cheaper ported subs this size.
Around back, an adjustable low-pass filter and a phase control switch let you dial the Sub6 into whatever speakers it's paired with, while a single RCA L/R line-level input keeps hookup simple. A switchable auto-standby mode powers the unit down when there's no signal and wakes it the moment audio resumes, so it isn't drawing power sitting idle.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
In our experience setting these up in home offices and condo living rooms across Central Ontario, the Sub6's sealed cabinet makes it more forgiving of placement than a ported subwoofer — it doesn't depend on being pushed into a corner or against a wall for boundary reinforcement, so it performs consistently whether it's tucked under a desk, beside a media console, or in a bookshelf gap. That flexibility matters most in the kind of space-limited rooms where a Sub6 gets specified in the first place.

Why the Kanto Sub6 Stands Out
Sealed Cabinet Accuracy
The acoustic-suspension design keeps bass tight and controlled, so notes start and stop with the material instead of lingering the way a ported box can.
100W Class D Amplifier
A 100-watt RMS (200-watt peak) Class D amp gives the 6-inch woofer enough headroom to handle dynamic peaks in music, movies, and games without straining.
Adjustable Low-Pass Filter & Phase Control
Rear-panel controls let you set where the sub hands off to your main speakers and align its timing with them, so the crossover point blends cleanly instead of standing out.
Compact, Space-Conscious Footprint
At 8.7" x 8.7" x 9.5", the Sub6 fits under a desk, in a bookshelf gap, or beside a media console without dominating the room.
Switchable Auto-Standby
The Sub6 drops into standby when it doesn't detect a signal and wakes automatically when audio resumes, so it isn't left drawing power unnecessarily.
Simple RCA Hookup
A single RCA L/R line-level input keeps setup straightforward with almost any receiver, amplifier, or powered speaker system.
Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- The Desktop Listener: adds real low-end to a near-field setup without taking up desk or floor space.
- The Condo or Apartment Dweller: a sealed, compact design that fits small living spaces without dominating the room.
- The Kanto System Owner: matches the look and scale of Kanto's desktop speaker lineup for a cohesive small-room system.
How It Compares
For rooms with more space to work with, the Kanto Sub8 steps up to an 8-inch woofer and a 300-watt peak (150W RMS) Class D amplifier in a larger 11" x 11" x 11.9" cabinet, extending output further into the room at the cost of the Sub6's smaller footprint. Both use the same sealed-enclosure approach and RCA line-level input, so the choice comes down mostly to room size — the Sub6 suits the desktop and small-room setups described above, while the Sub8 is the better fit for larger living rooms or home theatre systems.
