Bowers & Wilkins HTM71 S3 Centre Speaker - (Each)
Overview
The Bowers & Wilkins HTM71 S3 is the flagship centre channel speaker in the 700 Series, built as the perfect partner for the 702 S3, 703 S3, and 705 S3. It's a true three-way design, bringing the Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top housing to the centre channel format alongside a dedicated Continuum FST midrange driver and dual Aerofoil Profile bass drivers.
The tweeter housing is milled from a single solid block of aluminum and decoupled from the rest of the cabinet, keeping high-frequency detail clean even when the bass drivers are working hard during a loud scene. Because the midrange driver sits directly beneath the tweeter rather than between two woofers, the HTM71 S3 spreads dialogue clarity evenly across a wide seating area instead of favouring only the centre seat.
Bi-wire/bi-amp capable rear terminals and a Flowport reflex vent round out the design, and the cabinet is available in Gloss Black, Satin White, or Mocha to match a 700 Series system.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
In high-end home theatres across Central Ontario, the centre channel does most of the work carrying dialogue, so it deserves the same attention as the main towers. The HTM71 S3 brings true three-way technology to that role instead of the compromised two-way layout found in most centre speakers, which matters most in wider or open-concept rooms where side-seat listeners need the same clarity as the centre seat.
More Info
Why the HTM71 S3 Stands Out
Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top
A decoupled Carbon Dome tweeter housed in a solid aluminum enclosure with an elongated tube-loading system for open, detailed highs.
Dedicated Continuum FST Midrange
A 5-inch Continuum cone midrange driver with Biomimetic Suspension and midrange decoupling for clear, uncoloured vocals.
Dual Aerofoil Profile Bass Drivers
Two variable-thickness bass cones for rigid, fast low-frequency response.
True Three-Way Design
Places the midrange driver directly beneath the tweeter for a wide, even listening area rather than a narrow centre-seat sweet spot.
Bi-Wire/Bi-Amp Terminal Tray
A split rear terminal layout supports bi-wiring or bi-amping for advanced setups.
Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- 700 Series system owners: The matched centre channel for 702 S3, 703 S3, or 705 S3 based home theatres.
- Wide or open-concept rooms: Even dialogue clarity for listeners seated off to either side of centre.
- Serious home cinema builders: A true three-way centre channel rather than a compromised two-way design.
How It Compares
The HTM71 S3 is the standard 700 Series flagship centre channel. Stepping down, the HTM72 S3 uses a more compact two-way design for smaller 700 Series systems, while stepping up, the HTM71 S3 Signature carries the same confirmed Signature-line upgrades found across the rest of the range: improved capacitors, revised speaker terminals, an upgraded midrange motor system, and a more open tweeter grille mesh.
