Overview
The FiiO BR13 is a Bluetooth receiver, USB DAC, and SPDIF decoder that brings wireless streaming to the amplifier, receiver, or powered speakers you already own. Connect it to an RCA, optical, or coaxial input, pair your phone, and your existing system becomes a Bluetooth system you can control from the couch.
It's built around a Qualcomm QCC5125 Bluetooth chip, an ES9018K2M DAC, and a TPA1882 op-amp. On the Bluetooth side it supports LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX, aptX LL, and SBC, and it can stay connected to two source devices at once. A USB-C port lets it work as a plug-and-play USB DAC up to 96kHz/24bit, and optical and coaxial inputs let it decode the digital output of a TV, set-top box, or disc player.
A high-contrast 1.1-inch display on the angled front panel shows the codec, input, and EQ at a glance. You can use the front buttons or the FiiO Control app, which adds EQ presets, two 10-band parametric EQ profiles, a low-latency aptX LL priority mode, and over-the-air firmware updates. The aluminum housing is compact, and an external antenna helps keep the connection stable.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
The BR13 is one of the simplest ways to add good Bluetooth sound to a stereo you already love. Use the RCA output into an amplifier's analog input to let the BR13's own ES9018K2M DAC do the conversion, or use the optical or coaxial output if you'd rather send a digital signal to your own DAC or receiver. Keep in mind it only receives Bluetooth. It won't send audio out to wireless headphones or speakers. For gaming or video, turn on aptX LL priority in the app to cut delay with a compatible source.
