Pro-Ject Audio Systems PSTROBEIT Strobe-IT Turntable Stroboscopic Disc
Overview
The Pro-Ject Strobe It is a precision stroboscope disc that lets you verify your turntable's platter speed is accurate for 33⅓ and 45 RPM playback. Even small speed deviations affect pitch, timing, and tonal balance, so a quick check gives you confidence your records are playing exactly as they should.
To use it, place the disc on your platter, start the turntable, and view it under a standard mains-powered lamp. Circular dashes on the ring matching your speed will appear to stand still when the speed is correct; if they drift forward or backward, your turntable's speed needs adjustment.
It's compact, lightweight, and easy to place on and remove from any turntable platter, making it a simple tool to keep on hand for periodic speed checks.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
The light source matters here: Strobe It needs a standard mains-powered lamp to read correctly. Daylight, fluorescent or energy-saving lamps, flashlights, and LEDs running on direct current won't produce the flicker needed for an accurate reading, so keep a basic incandescent-style lamp on hand for the check.

Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- New Turntable Owners: A simple way to confirm a fresh setup is running at the correct speed.
- Belt-Drive Turntable Owners: A useful periodic check as a belt ages and can start to affect speed.
- Anyone Chasing Accurate Pitch: For listeners who want assurance their records are playing at true speed.
How It Compares
Pro-Ject's Level-IT confirms your turntable is sitting level, and the Measure-IT E confirms tracking force is dialed in. The Strobe It rounds out setup by checking the one thing neither of those tools can: whether the platter itself is spinning at the correct speed.
