FiiO S15 All-in-One Network Audio Streamer and DAC
Overview
The FiiO S15 is a full-size, all-in-one network audio streamer, DAC and preamp, built to the standard 430mm width of other hi-fi components to run the music side of a living-room system. It streams over Wi-Fi or Ethernet with Roon Ready, AirPlay and DLNA, plays from a NAS or local storage, decodes HDMI and HDMI ARC audio from a TV or disc player, and feeds powered speakers or an amplifier from balanced XLR or RCA outputs. It's for listeners who want one capable box to replace a separate streamer, DAC and preamp.
Decoding is handled by AKM's AK4191 and AK4499EX pair in a fully balanced design from DAC through the preamp stage, with OPA1612 op-amps, dual ACCUSILICON femtosecond clocks and an XMOS XU316 USB receiver. The pre XLR output reaches 8.9Vrms with an SNR of 131dB, and the outputs can be set to fixed or variable level. A 35W low-noise linear power supply and physically separated digital, analog and power sections sit inside an all-metal chassis.
A Snapdragon 660 with 4GB of RAM runs a custom landscape version of Android 12 on a 7.84-inch touchscreen, so streaming apps install directly, and a custom FiiO Music interface shows VU meters. It has 64GB of storage plus microSD and USB drive support, Bluetooth 5.1 reception with LDAC and aptX Adaptive, and Bluetooth 5.0 transmission. Control it by touch, through the FiiO Control app, or with the included Bluetooth remote.

Use the S15 as the hub of a living-room system: run the HDMI ARC from the TV into it, the XLR or RCA outputs to powered speakers or an amplifier, and Ethernet for the steadiest Roon and streaming performance. The 3.5mm jack on the back is a trigger output for switching on connected gear, not a headphone output, so pair the S15 with a separate headphone amp if you need one. If your amp has its own volume control, set the outputs to fixed level; for powered speakers, use the variable preamp level. Its digital outputs, including AES and HDMI I2S, can also feed an external DAC.
