Overview

The FiiO FT1 is a closed-back, wired over-ear headphone with a 60mm dynamic driver and natural solid wood earcups. It was FiiO's first closed-back headphone, and it's for listeners who want rich, full-bodied sound and good isolation from a headphone that's easy to drive from a phone, laptop, or dongle.

The second-generation 60mm driver uses a nanowood fibre diaphragm made from 90-year-old Northern European spruce blended with carbon fibre, only about 0.1mm thick, inspired by the paper cones in classic speakers. FiiO's W-shaped suspension gasket increases the effective vibrating area by 25.8% over a typical diaphragm of the same size, and a large 25mm voice coil wound with ultra-fine Japanese CCAW wire drives it. A conical baffle sets the driver parallel to your ear to break up standing waves, and a U-shaped damping tube adds bass extension while helping the closed-back design cut outside noise by up to 26dB.

At 32 ohms and 98dB/mW (113dB/Vrms), the FT1 needs little power. The 3-axis adaptive headband rotates and slides on ball-bearing rails with 12 adjustment steps, and breathable fabric earpads with protein leather sides keep long sessions cool. It's Hi-Res Audio certified by JAS and CEA and comes with two 1.5m silver-plated oxygen-free copper cables (392 wires, 24AWG), one 3.5mm and one 4.4mm balanced, plus a 6.35mm adapter and a storage bag.
