Bowers & Wilkins AM-1 Outdoor Speakers (Pair)
Overview
The Bowers & Wilkins AM-1 is a 2-way, all-weather outdoor loudspeaker sold as a pair, built around a sealed cabinet and a rear-mounted Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR) instead of a traditional port. It pairs a 25mm aluminum dome tweeter loaded with B&W's Nautilus tube design with a 130mm glass-fibre cone bass/midrange driver, giving it the kind of detail and low-end weight you'd expect from an indoor bookshelf speaker in a cabinet rated for dust, moisture, and UV exposure.
Mounting is handled through a single aluminum wall bracket with a one-plug connection, so the speaker can be positioned vertically or horizontally and rotated up to 220 degrees to aim sound exactly where you need it. The sealed enclosure means there's no open port for wind noise or water intrusion to worry about, and the rust-proof aluminum grille is built to hold up season after season.
Finished in Matte Black or Matte White, the AM-1 is designed to blend into siding, stucco, or timber framing rather than stand out, while still delivering genuine two-channel sound quality outdoors.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
Outdoor speakers are usually a compromise: open-port designs let in moisture over time and rarely have real bass extension. The AM-1's sealed cabinet and rear ABR sidestep both problems at once, giving you a speaker that's built to stay outside year-round without the thin, boxy sound most all-weather speakers are known for. The one-plug bracket and 220-degree rotation also solve a real installation headache under eaves, pergolas, and covered porches, where getting the aim right the first time matters because you're not moving it again once it's wired in.

Why the AM-1 Stands Out
Nautilus Tube-Loaded Tweeter
The 25mm aluminum dome tweeter is loaded with Bowers & Wilkins' tapered Nautilus tube, the same principle used across the brand's home speaker lines, to control resonance and keep high frequencies clean.
Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR)
In place of a standard port, the AM-1 uses a rear-mounted ABR paired with a sealed enclosure, delivering deeper bass without an opening that can let in wind or moisture.
Sealed, Weather-Resistant Cabinet
The enclosure is resistant to dust, moisture, and UV exposure, so it's built to stay mounted outdoors through every season.
One-Plug Aluminum Wall Bracket
A single-connection aluminum bracket lets the AM-1 mount vertically or horizontally without exposed wiring at the speaker itself.
220-Degree Rotation
The bracket rotates up to 220 degrees, making it easy to dial in the exact aim you need once it's installed.
Matte Black or Matte White Finish
Available in two finishes so the cabinet and grille can blend with your existing exterior colour scheme.
Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- Homeowners with covered outdoor spaces: Patios, pergolas, and covered porches where you want real sound quality without bringing indoor speakers outside.
- Custom home builders and designers: Projects that call for weatherproof audio built into the outdoor living plan from the start.
- Commercial and hospitality spaces: Restaurant patios and outdoor lounges that need durable, all-weather background audio.
How It Compares
The AM-1 is purpose-built for full outdoor exposure, with a sealed cabinet and dust, moisture, and UV resistance that our indoor stand mount speakers, like the 706 S3, simply aren't designed for. If your listening space is indoors or fully enclosed, the 706 S3 is the better fit; if it's an open patio, deck, or covered porch, the AM-1 is built for that environment.
