Bowers & Wilkins 803 D4 - Flagship 800 Series Diamond Floor Standing Speakers - Black (Pair)
Overview
The Bowers & Wilkins 803 D4 is the most compact floorstanding speaker in the 800 Series Diamond lineup, bringing the series' three-box construction down to a footprint that fits into a normal living room. It's a three-way tower speaker with a Diamond dome tweeter in a Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top housing, a 5-inch Continuum FST midrange isolated in its own Turbine Head enclosure, and two 7-inch Aerofoil bass drivers mounted in aluminum bass pods.
The Turbine Head keeps the midrange driver's enclosure mechanically separate from the bass cabinet below it, so the impact of the bass drivers doesn't reach the midrange cone. The cabinet itself is a Reverse Wrap design, made from a continuous curved section of wood rather than a conventional flat-panel box, reinforced internally with B&W's Matrix bracing to resist resonance and improve sound dispersion.
The 803 D4 covers a frequency range of 16Hz to 35kHz, pairs with amplifiers from 50W to 500W into 8 ohms, and comes in Gloss Black, White, Satin Rosenut, and Satin Walnut finishes with Black or Grey grille options. Each tower includes a heavy-duty plinth with integrated caster wheels for positioning and adjustable floor spikes to lock it in place once positioned.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
The 803 D4 is the entry point into 800 Series Diamond ownership without stepping up to the larger 802 D4 or 801 D4 — same Diamond tweeter, same Turbine Head architecture, just smaller bass cones and a smaller midrange driver to suit a more typical room. For clients who want the reference-tier sound of the 800 Series Diamond line but don't have the floor space or amplification headroom that the larger models call for, this is the model to spec.

Why the 803 D4 Stands Out
Turbine Head Midrange Enclosure
The 5-inch Continuum FST midrange cone sits in its own aluminum Turbine Head enclosure, mechanically isolated from the bass cabinet so bass driver energy doesn't reach the midrange.
Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top
The Diamond dome tweeter sits above the cabinet in its own decoupled housing, isolating high frequencies from cabinet vibration.
Reverse Wrap Cabinet
Instead of a conventional flat-panel box, the cabinet is made from a continuous curved section of wood, creating a stiffer structure that resists resonance and improves sound dispersion.
Enhanced Matrix Bracing
Interlocking internal panels reinforce the cabinet walls in all directions, reducing resonance for a more believable soundstage.
Aluminum Bass Pods
The two Aerofoil bass cones are mounted in solid aluminum pods clamped to the stiffest part of the curved cabinet, giving the bass drivers a rigid mechanical foundation.
Downward-Firing Flowport
The bass port fires downward onto the plinth rather than out the back, reducing port noise and allowing placement closer to a rear wall.
Integrated Casters and Floor Spikes
The plinth includes caster wheels for positioning the tower and adjustable floor spikes to lock it in place once you've found the right spot.
Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- Reference-tier two-channel listening rooms: audiophiles who want the 800 Series Diamond's Turbine Head and Diamond tweeter architecture in the most compact cabinet the line offers.
- High-end home theatre front channels: builds needing a reference-grade left/right pair that can anchor a full multi-channel system.
- Rooms too small for the 802 D4 or 801 D4: spaces where the larger Diamond models' bigger cabinets and bass cones aren't practical.
How It Compares
Step up to the Bowers & Wilkins 802 D4 for larger 8-inch bass cones and a bigger 6-inch midrange driver in a taller cabinet, extending bass output and scale for larger rooms. The 803 D4 uses the same Diamond tweeter and Turbine Head architecture in a smaller footprint, trading some bass headroom for easier placement in a typical living room.
