FiiO CP13 Portable Cassette Player with Analog Playback
Overview
The FiiO CP13 is a portable stereo cassette player that brings your tape collection back to life with a fully analog signal path, from the tape head to the headphone jack. It's built purely for playback, with FiiO leaving out recording and auto-reverse so the design can focus on sound quality and stable tape speed.
A custom movement, a 30.4mm pure copper flywheel, and a 4.2V motor supply with a speed-stabilization circuit keep wow and flutter low, rated at 0.2% or less. A carefully selected permalloy head feeds a differential circuit that picks up the signal in balanced form, and a JRC5532 op-amp drives the 3.5mm headphone output. It plays all cassette types, from Type I to Type IV.
The dual-colour aluminum chassis is just 31.8mm thick, with hard-oxidized buttons and a large analog volume knob that feels solid in the hand. An 1800mAh battery gives about 13 hours of playback and over 268 days of standby, and it recharges over USB-C in about 3 hours. You can keep listening while it charges.
