AudioQuest Red River XLR Balanced Analog Interconnect Cable (Pair)

Overview

Balanced XLR connections are a strong choice between components that support them. The AudioQuest Red River XLR to XLR is a balanced analog audio interconnect (XLR to XLR) for connecting balanced sources such as DACs, streamers, and preamps to amplifiers and receivers with XLR inputs.

It uses solid Perfect-Surface Copper conductors with direction-controlled metal so induced noise is dissipated and drained properly. Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation absorbs and reflects most RF noise before it reaches the ground layer, and nitrogen-injected Hard-Cell Foam insulation keeps signal-pair geometry stable along the cable's length.

Triple-Balanced Geometry adds a separate ground-reference conductor so the shield is never used as an inferior conductor, giving the positive and negative signals equally low-distortion paths. Cold-welded, gold-plated terminations make the connection without solder.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

Choose the shortest length that comfortably reaches between your components, leaving a little slack so the plugs are not under tension. Available here in several lengths; see the length options above.

More Info

Why the AudioQuest Red River XLR to XLR Stands Out

Solid PSC Conductors

Solid Perfect-Surface Copper with a smooth, pure surface for low distortion.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

Conductors are oriented so induced noise is dissipated and drained properly.

Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation

Absorbs and reflects most RF noise before it reaches the layer attached to ground.

Hard-Cell Foam Insulation

Nitrogen-injected foam keeps signal-pair geometry stable for a consistent impedance and lower distortion.

Triple-Balanced Geometry

A separate ground-reference conductor means the shield is never used as an inferior conductor.

Cold-Welded Gold-Plated Terminations

A solder-free connection made with a high-pressure process.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The Balanced System Owner: Has a DAC, preamp, or streamer with XLR outputs feeding an amplifier with XLR inputs.
  • The Long-Run Installer: Needs balanced connections between components spaced apart.
  • The System Builder: Wants consistent AudioQuest cabling through a stereo system.

How It Compares

The AudioQuest Mackenzie XLR steps up to solid PSC+ conductors, carbon-based Noise-Dissipation, and hanging-silver terminations, with the same Triple-Balanced Geometry and Hard-Cell Foam insulation.

AudioQuest Red River XLR Balanced Analog Interconnect Cable (Pair) FAQs

What is the AudioQuest Red River XLR to XLR used for?

It is a balanced analog audio interconnect (XLR to XLR) for connecting balanced sources such as DACs, streamers, and preamps to amplifiers and receivers with XLR inputs.

What conductors does it use?

Solid Perfect-Surface Copper conductors, kept smooth and pure through AudioQuest's proprietary metal processing.

How does it handle noise?

Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation absorbs and reflects most RF noise before it reaches the layer attached to ground, rather than draining it into the component's ground reference.

Are the connectors soldered?

No. AudioQuest uses cold-welded terminations, which create a solder-free connection.
