AudioQuest Mackenzie XLR Balanced Analog Interconnect Cable

Overview

Balanced XLR connections are a strong choice between components that support them. The AudioQuest Mackenzie XLR to XLR is a balanced analog audio interconnect (XLR to XLR) for connecting balanced sources such as DACs, streamers, and preamps to amplifiers and receivers with XLR inputs.

It uses solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors with direction-controlled metal so induced noise is dissipated and drained properly. AudioQuest's Carbon-Based 3-Layer Noise-Dissipation absorbs and reflects RF noise before it reaches the ground reference, and nitrogen-injected Hard-Cell Foam insulation keeps signal-pair geometry stable.

Triple-Balanced Geometry adds a separate ground-reference conductor so the shield is never used as an inferior conductor, and cold-welded terminations with hanging-silver directly over pure purple copper make the connection without solder.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

Choose the shortest length that comfortably reaches between your components, leaving a little slack so the plugs are not under tension. Available here in several lengths; see the length options above.

More Info

Why the AudioQuest Mackenzie XLR to XLR Stands Out

Solid PSC+ Conductors

Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ minimizes distortion caused by grain boundaries.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

Conductors are oriented so induced noise is dissipated and drained properly.

Carbon-Based 3-Layer Noise-Dissipation

Absorbs and reflects RF noise before it reaches the ground reference.

Hard-Cell Foam Insulation

Nitrogen-injected foam keeps signal-pair geometry stable for a consistent impedance and lower distortion.

Triple-Balanced Geometry

A separate ground-reference conductor means the shield is never used as an inferior conductor.

Hanging-Silver Terminations

Cold-welded, with silver directly over pure purple copper.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The Balanced System Owner: Has components with XLR outputs and inputs and wants a high-performance link.
  • The Critical Listener: Wants PSC+ conductors and carbon-based noise dissipation in a balanced cable.
  • The System Builder: Wants consistent AudioQuest cabling through a stereo system.

How It Compares

The AudioQuest Red River XLR uses solid PSC conductors, Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation, and gold-plated terminations. Mackenzie steps up to PSC+ conductors, carbon-based 3-layer Noise-Dissipation, and hanging-silver over pure purple copper terminations.

AudioQuest Mackenzie XLR Balanced Analog Interconnect Cable FAQs

What is the AudioQuest Mackenzie XLR to XLR used for?

It is a balanced analog audio interconnect (XLR to XLR) for connecting balanced sources such as DACs, streamers, and preamps to amplifiers and receivers with XLR inputs.

What conductors does it use?

Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors, which minimize distortion caused by grain boundaries.

How does it handle noise?

Carbon-Based 3-Layer Noise-Dissipation absorbs and reflects RF noise before it reaches the ground reference, and direction-controlled conductors help drain induced noise properly.

Are the connectors soldered?

No. AudioQuest uses cold-welded terminations, which create a solder-free connection.
