Audiolab 9000A Integrated Amplifier
Overview
An integrated amplifier is the heart of a two-channel system, and the more it can handle on its own, the fewer boxes you need. The Audiolab 9000A is Audiolab's most advanced integrated amplifier, combining a 100-watt-per-channel Class AB power amp, a flagship ESS DAC, a moving magnet phono stage, and a dedicated headphone amp in one chassis.
Its discrete Class AB power stage delivers 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 160 watts into 4 ohms, built around Audiolab's Complementary Feedback (CFB) topology, a custom 320VA toroidal transformer, and 60,000µF of reservoir capacitance. The ESS ES9038PRO 32-bit DAC handles PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512 over USB, with user-selectable digital filters for the coaxial and optical inputs.
A 4.3-inch full-colour IPS display shows source, file, and playback information, with two VU meter styles or a display-off option. Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX, aptX HD, AAC, and LDAC covers phones and tablets, the 9000A is Roon Tested, and three operating modes (Integrated, Pre-Power, and Pre Only) let it slot into almost any system.

The 9000A's Pre-Power mode is the detail we point out most often to clients who also have a home theatre in the same room. With the pre and power stages separated, an AV processor can drive the 9000A's 100-watt power amp for the front left and right speakers during movies, while the 9000A runs as a full stereo integrated amplifier for music, so one pair of front speakers covers both.
