FiiO SA1 Active Desktop Speakers with Phono Preamp
Overview
The FiiO SA1 is a compact pair of powered desktop speakers with a built-in phono preamp, so a turntable, computer, TV and phone can all play through one setup without extra boxes on the desk. Plug a record player straight in, connect a laptop over USB-C or stream from your phone over Bluetooth, and control it all with the physical knobs, the included remote or the FiiO Control app. It's for desk and small-room listeners who want real hi-fi sound and plenty of connections in a small footprint.
Each speaker pairs a 3.5-inch wood-fibre woofer with a ¾-inch aluminium-magnesium dome tweeter, split by a two-way active crossover at 3.5kHz. Two Texas Instruments TPA3118 Class D amplifiers drive each driver separately, with 20W per woofer and 5W per tweeter, and a rear port in the 12mm high-density MDF cabinet extends bass down to 65Hz.
Inputs cover RCA line and phono, 3.5mm AUX, USB-C (up to 96kHz/32-bit), coaxial (up to 192kHz/24-bit) and optical (up to 96kHz/24-bit), and Bluetooth 5.4 adds LDAC, with Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification. A subwoofer output turns it into a 2.1 system for deeper bass in a larger room.

Match the RCA/PHONO switch to your turntable: use PHONO for a turntable without its own preamp, and RCA for one that has a built-in preamp, such as FiiO's TT13. Get it wrong and the sound will be very quiet or badly distorted. If the speakers sit close to a wall and the bass gets boomy, the 31-band parametric EQ in the FiiO Control app works on every input and can tame it, or switch to the monitor-style preset for a flatter response. The SA1 drops into standby after 20 minutes with no signal and wakes when one returns, and that can be switched off in the app.
