FiiO QX13 Portable DAC/Amp with Desktop Mode
Overview
The FiiO QX13 is a portable USB-C DAC and headphone amplifier with an ESS ES9027SPRO DAC, an XMOS XU316 USB receiver and six TI op-amps, plus a desktop mode that delivers up to 900mW per channel balanced. It's for listeners who want one compact dongle with a large colour screen and proper EQ that can run IEMs from a phone and still drive full-size headphones properly.
Four INA1620 and two OPA1692 op-amps drive the 3.5mm and 4.4mm balanced outputs. In desktop mode on high gain, the 4.4mm output reaches 900mW per channel into 32 ohms and the 3.5mm output 310mW, against 605mW and 250mW in standard mode, with SNR up to 124dB. A built-in power meter checks what each USB source can supply and adjusts the amp to suit, and a separate orange USB-C POWER IN port can take outside power or FiiO's ESTICK mini power bank.
The QX13 plays up to 768kHz/32-bit PCM and native DSD512 with full MQA decoding, and the 3.5mm jack doubles as a coaxial output. A 1.99-inch colour screen under Corning glass shows format, volume, gain and sample rate, and a 10-band EQ with 8 presets can be set from the FiiO Control app on Android or FiiO's web tool. It comes in black carbon fibre at 33.7g or titanium gold aluminum alloy at 39.2g, with a magnetic case that lines up with an iPhone and a magnetic ring for Android phones.

Use desktop mode when you sit down with full-size headphones; the QX13 measures what your USB source can supply and adjusts, so a laptop or the POWER IN port with a charger or ESTICK will give the most consistent results. With a phone on its own, standard mode still gives 605mW balanced, which is plenty for IEMs and most portable headphones. Set up the PEQ on Android or a computer, since the app is Android-only.
