Audeze LCD-GX Audiophile Over-Ear Gaming Headset with Economy Carry Case - Black/Red
Overview
The Audeze LCD-GX is an open-back gaming headset that brings the LCD series' planar magnetic drivers to competitive and immersive gaming. A single Fluxor magnet array and ultra-thin Uniforce diaphragm drive 106mm transducers, at least twice the size of drivers found in typical gaming headsets, for a wide soundstage and precise directional imaging.
It's a strictly analog design with no digital processing or virtual surround gimmicks, and it includes a detachable cable with a directional, noise-attenuating boom microphone with a built-in mute switch. A magnesium chassis, open-cell foam earpads, and a suspension headband keep it lightweight for long sessions.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
The LCD-GX effectively ends the debate between "gaming headset" and "audiophile headphone" by being both. At 20 ohms and 100 dB sensitivity, it's easy to drive from a gaming motherboard or laptop, though a dedicated DAC/amp will get more out of the drivers and a cleaner input for the boom mic.

Why the Audeze LCD-GX Stands Out
106mm Planar Magnetic Drivers
The same driver technology found in Audeze's studio headphones, offering more detail and low-end control than typical dynamic-driver gaming headsets.
Open-Back Spatial Imaging
The 106mm drivers and open-back architecture create a wide, natural soundstage for directional awareness in games.
Detachable Boom Microphone
A directional, noise-attenuating boom microphone with a built-in mute switch and flexible gooseneck arm, included on its own dedicated cable.
Two Interchangeable Cables
Swap between the boom mic cable for gaming and a standard braided LCD cable for pure music listening.
Lightweight Magnesium Chassis
Magnesium housing keeps the weight down for long-term comfort, paired with open-cell foam earpads and a suspension headband.
Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- Competitive gamers: who want the best possible directional audio and clear communication for ranked play.
- Streamers and content creators: who want a headset that sounds as good on the broadcast as it does in-game.
- Music-loving gamers: who spend as much time listening to music as playing games and want one headset for both.
How It Compares
If you'd rather have a wireless, digital experience with built-in surround sound and head tracking, the Audeze Maxwell is the modern alternative. For a dedicated studio tool without a microphone for mixing and mastering, the Audeze LCD-X is the standard choice.
