Klipsch RP-8060FA II Floorstanding Speaker - Ea

Overview

Adding Dolby Atmos height effects usually means a separate elevation speaker or cutting into the ceiling, and for a lot of rooms neither is practical. The Klipsch RP-8060FA II solves that by building the height channel directly into the tower.

The RP-8060FA II is a flagship floorstanding speaker with an integrated 6.5" up-firing Dolby Atmos driver built into the top of the cabinet, alongside the same dual 8" Cerametallic woofers and 1" titanium tweeter on a 90° x 90° hybrid Tractrix horn found in Klipsch's top Reference Premiere towers. The main channel handles the front soundstage while the up-firing driver bounces sound off the ceiling for overhead effects.

The internally braced MDF cabinet uses a divided internal structure to keep the main and height channels acoustically separate, and dual rear-firing Tractrix ports handle bass for the main channel. Dual binding posts support bi-wiring or bi-amping, and injection-molded feet with a magnetic grille finish the design in ebony or walnut.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

For Central Ontario clients who want genuine Atmos height effects without adding a separate elevation speaker or running extra wiring, the RP-8060FA II is the simplest path — the up-firing driver is built right into the tower you're already installing, so there's one less speaker to place and wire.

Why the Klipsch RP-8060FA II Stands Out

Dual Cerametallic Woofers

Two 8" woofers deliver genuinely deep bass and a clear, uncoloured midrange.

Built-In Up-Firing Atmos Driver

A 6.5" driver built into the cabinet top adds overhead height effects without a separate speaker.

Titanium Tweeter with Hybrid Tractrix Horn

Delivers crisp, controlled highs with a wide, accurate soundstage.

Acoustically Divided Cabinet

Keeps the main and height channels acoustically separate for cleaner performance.

Bi-Wire/Bi-Amp Capable

Dual binding posts let you separate high and low frequency currents for further refinement.

Reinforced, Low-Resonance Cabinet

Internal bracing keeps bass tight and vocals clear at higher volumes.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The Atmos-Without-Extra-Speakers Buyer: wants height effects built into the main tower instead of a separate elevation speaker.
  • The Home Theatre Builder: wants a flagship front stage with genuine scale and Atmos support in one speaker.
  • The Reference Premiere System Owner: wants a tonal match for RP-series centre and surround speakers.

How It Compares

The RP-8060FA II shares its main-channel driver complement with the RP-8000F II, but adds a built-in 6.5" up-firing Atmos driver that the RP-8000F II doesn't have. If you don't need built-in height effects — say, you're planning to add a separate RP-500SA II elevation speaker instead — the RP-8000F II covers the same main-channel performance at a lower cost.

Klipsch RP-8060FA II Floorstanding Speaker - Ea FAQs

How does the RP-8060FA II's integrated Dolby Atmos speaker improve the listening experience compared to traditional floorstanding speakers?

The RP-8060FA II features an up-firing Dolby Atmos channel that reflects sound off the ceiling, delivering an overhead audio experience. This design provides a fuller, three-dimensional soundstage, allowing listeners to experience audio from all directions, including overhead, which is not typically possible with traditional floorstanding speakers.

What are the benefits of the RP-8060FA II's dual rear Tractrix ports in terms of bass performance?

The dual rear Tractrix ports of the RP-8060FA II are engineered to create ideal airflow with minimal distortion and turbulence, even at the lowest frequencies. This design reduces port noise, resulting in cleaner and more powerful bass, improving the overall audio experience.

How does the RP-8060FA II's cabinet construction contribute to its acoustic performance?

The RP-8060FA II's cabinet is constructed from reinforced MDF with internal bracing and a divided design to minimize resonance and vibration. This robust construction reduces cabinet coloration, ensuring that the sound produced is clear and accurate, improving the overall listening experience.

What is the purpose of the Tractrix ports on the RP-8060FA II speakers?

The Tractrix ports on the RP-8060FA II speakers facilitate efficient and fast air transfer from the cabinet, reducing port noise and delivering cleaner, more powerful bass. This design improves the low-frequency performance, contributing to a more dynamic, room-filling audio experience.
