Klipsch RP-500M MKII Reference Premiere Bookshelf Speakers

Overview

A small room or a tight condo shouldn't mean settling for compressed, closed-in sound, and the Klipsch RP-500M II is built to prove that a compact bookshelf speaker can still deliver genuine Reference Premiere performance.

The RP-500M II pairs a 1" titanium Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) tweeter with a larger 90° x 90° silicone composite hybrid Tractrix horn for crisp, detailed highs, and a 5.25" Cerametallic woofer for tight, controlled bass and a clear midrange. A rear-firing Tractrix port uses a shaped geometry that lets air exit with minimal turbulence, for faster, punchier bass.

The internally braced MDF cabinet keeps resonance low, and the input panel uses audiophile-grade wiring with aluminum binding posts. Cork pads replace rubber bumpers for secure, vibration-damped placement on furniture or a stand.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

For Central Ontario clients in condos or smaller rooms who still want the Reference Premiere sound, the RP-500M II shares the exact same tweeter and horn technology as the larger RP-600M II — you aren't sacrificing vocal clarity or high-frequency detail, just top-end bass extension and overall scale.

Larger Hybrid Tractrix Horn

Improves high-frequency transfer and soundstage clarity.

Shaped Rear-Firing Port

Lets air exit with minimal turbulence for faster, punchier bass.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The Space-Conscious Listener: wants Reference Premiere sound in a smaller room or apartment.
  • The Home Theatre Builder: works as front-stage speakers in smaller rooms or premium surround channels in larger setups.
  • The Desktop or Near-Field Listener: wants a high-performance nearfield pair for a quality amplifier.

How It Compares

The RP-500M II is the entry point into Klipsch's Reference Premiere bookshelf lineup, sharing its tweeter and horn technology with the larger RP-600M II. The RP-600M II steps up to a bigger woofer for more bass extension and a larger soundstage without a subwoofer; for a tighter room or as a secondary system, the RP-500M II is the right-sized choice, and the R-50M is a more accessible starting point in Klipsch's Reference line.
