Kanto TUK Powered Speakers with Headphone Out - Pair

Overview

Most powered speakers ask you to pick one strength and live with it — great highs but no phono input, or plenty of connections but middling drivers. The Kanto TUK is built to not make you choose.

The TUK is a powered bookshelf speaker pair built around 28mm x 35mm AMT tweeters and 5.25-inch aluminum drivers, run by a Class D amplifier rated at 130 watts RMS (260 watts peak) and tuned with onboard DSP. Connectivity covers a dedicated phono preamp RCA input for a turntable, a built-in USB DAC, RCA and optical inputs, and Bluetooth 4.2 with aptX HD and AAC support, so nearly any source can connect without extra gear.

An active crossover filters frequencies below 80Hz to a connected subwoofer, a headphone output with its own amplifier handles private listening, and automatic standby and wake-up keep the TUK from drawing power when it's idle. A left/right channel swap makes it easy to place the active speaker wherever a power outlet actually is, without extension cords or rewiring.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

The dedicated phono preamp input is the detail that sets the TUK apart from most powered speakers in this category — a turntable can connect directly with no separate phono stage needed, while the RCA, optical, and Bluetooth inputs stay free for a TV, computer, or phone. For clients building a compact all-in-one system, that combination covers a turntable and everything else without adding another box.

Why the Kanto TUK Stands Out

AMT Tweeters & Aluminum Drivers

28mm x 35mm Air Motion Transformer tweeters paired with 5.25-inch aluminum drivers deliver detailed highs and controlled bass, tuned further with onboard DSP.

Dedicated Phono Preamp Input

A built-in phono preamp lets a turntable connect directly via RCA, with no external phono stage required.

Bluetooth 4.2 with aptX HD

High-quality wireless streaming from a phone or tablet, alongside USB DAC, RCA, and optical inputs for wired sources.

Active Subwoofer Crossover

Frequencies below 80Hz are automatically sent to a connected subwoofer, freeing the main drivers to focus on mids and highs.

Per-Input Custom EQ

Save separate EQ settings for each input, so a gaming source and a turntable can each sound the way you want without manual adjustment every time.

Left/Right Channel Swap

Swap which speaker acts as the active unit, so placement can follow the room and the power outlet instead of the cabling.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The Turntable Owner: a dedicated phono preamp input means a turntable connects directly with no separate phono stage to buy.
  • The Multi-Source Listener: Bluetooth, USB DAC, RCA, and optical inputs cover a phone, a computer, and a TV or console at once.
  • The Flexible Room Setup: left/right channel swap and a rear sub-out make the TUK easy to fit into a room without extra cabling.

How It Compares

Kanto's REN is built more for TV integration, with HDMI ARC and CEC remote control that the TUK doesn't have. The TUK instead focuses on source flexibility for music, with a dedicated phono preamp input, AMT tweeters, and per-input EQ that the REN doesn't offer. Choosing between them comes down to whether HDMI ARC for a TV or a built-in phono stage for a turntable matters more to the system being built.
