JVC DLP Projector LX-NZ30B

Overview

The JVC LX-NZ30 is a 4K DLP laser projector with a 3,300-lumen BLU-Escent laser light source, HDR10 and HLG support, and a low latency mode with 1080p 240 Hz input for gaming. It's a single-chip projector that pairs high brightness with a 1.6x zoom and wide lens shift, so it's easy to fit into a living room, media room or games room. It's for viewers who want a bright, sharp 4K picture without the size and weight of a dedicated theatre projector.

A second-generation 0.47-inch XPR DMD produces a 3840 x 2160 4K UHD image, and the BLU-Escent laser is rated for about 20,000 hours. Dynamic laser dimming delivers infinite dynamic contrast in dark scenes, and HDR10 and HLG content is handled with auto tone mapping. The low latency mode and 1080p 240 Hz input suit fast-paced gaming, while 4K input is supported up to 60p.

The 1.6x zoom covers a 1.36 to 2.18:1 throw ratio, and lens shift of ±60% vertical and ±23% horizontal gives flexible placement for screens from 60 to 200 inches. Connections include two HDMI inputs with HDCP 2.3, DisplayPort, USB-C (DP Alt mode), a USB-A power output, RS-232, LAN and a 12 V trigger, so it can work with a PC, streaming stick or control system. At 13 lb, it's light enough for a shelf or simple ceiling mount.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

The LX-NZ30's 3,300 lumens make it a good fit for rooms that aren't fully dark, like a family room or basement with some ambient light. It's also far smaller and lighter than JVC's D-ILA models, at 13 lb, which keeps mounting simple. The USB-A port supplies 1.5 A, which can power a streaming stick plugged into one of the HDMI inputs. If you're within our Central Ontario service area, our custom install team can help with screen choice and placement.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • Living Room Viewers: Want a bright picture with some room light.
  • Gamers: Want 1080p 240 Hz and low latency.
  • PC and Media Room Users: Want DisplayPort and USB-C input.

How It Compares

Compared with the JVC DLA-RS1200, a native 4K D-ILA projector with 2,000 lumens, 40,000:1 native contrast, HDR10+ and a fully motorized lens in a 32.2 lb chassis, the LX-NZ30 is a single-chip DLP model with 3,300 lumens, 1080p 240 Hz gaming input, DisplayPort and USB-C, at 13 lb. Choose the RS1200 for a dedicated dark theatre, and the LX-NZ30 for a brighter multi-use room.
