Overview

The JVC DLA-RS2200 is a native 4K D-ILA home theatre projector with a BLU-Escent laser light source, 2,300 lumens and 80,000:1 native contrast. JVC lists it alongside its counterpart, the DLA-NZ700, built around three third-generation 0.69-inch native 4K D-ILA devices in what JVC calls the world's smallest native 4K projector, with DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. It's for dedicated theatre rooms and media rooms where deep blacks, accurate colour and long-term reliability matter.

The BLU-Escent laser is rated for about 20,000 hours and can be dimmed in 101 steps to match your screen and room. A newly designed, fully motorized 80 mm lens (15 elements in 11 groups) handles zoom, focus and shift, with ±70% vertical and ±28% horizontal lens shift for flexible placement. HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG are all supported, and JVC's Gen2 Frame Adapt HDR analyzes HDR10 content scene by scene, with Deep Black Tone Control for richer shadow detail.

FILMMAKER MODE shows movies the way they were graded, while the Vivid picture mode brings rich colour to SDR content like animation and sports. Installation Mode stores up to five setups covering lens, masking, anamorphic and screen settings, and Screen Adjustment Mode matches colour balance to many major screen brands. Two HDMI inputs (32 Gbps, HDCP 2.3) accept 4K signals up to 60p, and Control4, RTI and Josh.ai control are supported.

Placement is the first thing to plan with any D-ILA projector. The RS2200's 1.6x zoom covers a throw ratio of 1.34 to 2.14 for a 16:9 image, and the generous lens shift lets it sit off-centre on a shelf or ceiling mount without keystone correction. JVC rates the fan at 23 dB, and the heat exhaust sits at the rear, which JVC designed so it won't affect the projected image.
