Bowers & Wilkins HTM72 S3 Centre Speaker - (Each)
Overview
The Bowers & Wilkins HTM72 S3 is the more compact centre channel speaker in the 700 Series, sized to fit into tighter media consoles and shelving than the flagship HTM71 S3. It's a two-way design with a decoupled Carbon Dome tweeter and dual 5-inch Continuum cone bass/midrange drivers, and it's the recommended partner for a home theatre built around the 704 S3, 706 S3, or 707 S3.
The Carbon Dome tweeter raises the high-frequency breakup threshold to 47kHz compared to the previous aluminum double-dome design, for cleaner detail and imaging. The two Continuum cone drivers use the same composite construction as the rest of the 700 Series to avoid the abrupt behavioural transitions that can affect conventional drivers, keeping dialogue open and neutral.
A rear Flowport vent handles bass loading, and bi-wire/bi-amp capable terminals round out the connection options. The cabinet is available in Gloss Black, Satin White, or Mocha to match a 700 Series system.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
For family rooms, dens, and cottage media spaces across Central Ontario where a large centre channel simply won't fit the furniture, the HTM72 S3 gives you 700 Series sound quality in the lowest-profile cabinet in the range. It's built specifically to slot into standard media console openings rather than being a scaled-down afterthought, and it voice-matches cleanly with the smaller 700 Series towers and stand-mounts.

Decoupled Carbon Dome Tweeter
Raises the high-frequency breakup threshold to 47kHz for sharper detail and imaging.

Two composite cone bass/midrange drivers for open, neutral vocal reproduction.
Low-Profile Cabinet
Sized to fit into standard media console openings that larger centre channels can't.
Flowport Bass Loading
A rear reflex port designed to reduce turbulence and chuffing at higher output levels.
Bi-Wire/Bi-Amp Terminals
Rear terminals support bi-wiring or bi-amping for advanced setups.
Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- 700 Series system owners: The recommended centre channel for 704 S3, 706 S3, or 707 S3 based home theatres.
- Space-limited media consoles: A low cabinet height that fits shelving where larger centre channels won't.
- Living room home theatre builds: Clean dialogue without a bulky centre speaker dominating the furniture.
How It Compares
The HTM72 S3 is the compact two-way centre channel in the 700 Series. Stepping up, the HTM71 S3 uses a three-way design with a dedicated midrange driver and Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top for a wider, more even listening area, and the HTM71 S3 Signature adds B&W's confirmed Signature-line upgrades: improved capacitors, revised terminals, upgraded bass motor systems, a more open tweeter grille mesh, and exclusive Datuk Gloss or Midnight Blue Metallic finishes.
