Overview
The Bowers & Wilkins DB1D is the flagship model in the DB Series, the most powerful subwoofer Bowers & Wilkins has built to date. It pairs a 2000-watt Class D Hypex amplifier with two 300mm (12-inch) Aerofoil cone drivers arranged back-to-back in a dual-balanced configuration.
Because the two drivers face opposite directions, the mechanical forces they generate cancel each other out, so the amplifier's power goes into moving air rather than shaking the cabinet, and the ultra-rigid, highly damped enclosure keeps that energy tightly controlled. The 300mm Aerofoil cones use the same variable-thickness design found in Bowers & Wilkins' 800 Series Diamond speakers.
Setup is handled through a dedicated Bowers & Wilkins app for iOS and Android that includes a Room EQ system requiring no separate microphone kit, along with Dynamic EQ that keeps the frequency balance consistent across volume levels. On the back panel, dual XLR and RCA inputs, twin 12V triggers, and an RS-232 port let it integrate into two-channel systems or custom-install control setups alike.
