Bowers & Wilkins 703 S3 Floor Standing Speakers - (Pair)
Overview
The Bowers & Wilkins 703 S3 is the first speaker in the standard 700 Series line to get the Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top configuration, previously only found on the flagship 702 S3. It's a three-way tower speaker with a decoupled Carbon Dome tweeter, Continuum FST midrange, and two Aerofoil Profile bass drivers in a narrower cabinet than the 702 S3, giving you the same tweeter and midrange architecture in a more compact footprint.
The tweeter housing sits above the cabinet, milled from a single block of aluminum and mechanically decoupled from the main enclosure so high frequencies stay clear of cabinet resonance. The midrange driver uses B&W's Continuum cone with Biomimetic Suspension and is acoustically decoupled from the bass drivers, keeping vocals and instruments free of interference from the low end below.
The 703 S3 covers a frequency range of 30Hz to 33kHz, pairs with amplifiers from 30W to 200W into 8 ohms, and comes in Gloss Black, Satin White, and Mocha finishes with a matching stabilization plinth for floor mounting. It's built for rooms where you want the 700 Series' Tweeter-on-Top sound in a narrower cabinet than the 702 S3 allows.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
The 703 S3 is the entry point into 700 Series Tweeter-on-Top performance — you get the identical tweeter and midrange assembly as the 702 S3, just with two bass drivers instead of three in a narrower cabinet. For rooms where the 702 S3's footprint is more than you need, or where a slimmer tower fits the space better, the 703 S3 gives you the same top-end and midrange character without asking you to accommodate the larger cabinet.

Why the 703 S3 Stands Out
Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top
The tweeter housing is milled from a single block of aluminum and mechanically decoupled from the main cabinet, using an elongated tube-loading system that lets high frequencies radiate freely without cabinet interference.
Decoupled Carbon Dome Tweeter
Purpose-built for the 700 Series, the Carbon Dome tweeter raises the breakup threshold to 47kHz, giving pinpoint imaging and detail well beyond the audible range.
Continuum Cone FST Midrange
The midrange driver combines B&W's Continuum cone with Biomimetic Suspension and is decoupled from the bass drivers, avoiding the abrupt behavioural shifts that can affect a conventional driver's transparency.
Dual Aerofoil Profile Bass Drivers
Developed with computer modelling, the Aerofoil cone varies in thickness to provide stiffness and rigidity exactly where it's needed, giving the pair of drivers deep and dynamic low end.
Flowport Bass Reflex System
The Flowport venting reduces port noise and turbulence compared to a conventional straight port, for cleaner bass output at higher volumes.
Bi-Wire/Bi-Amp Ready Terminals
Dual binding posts on the rear panel support bi-wiring or bi-amping for owners who want to run separate cable runs or amplification to the highs and lows.
Structural Stabilization Plinth
Each tower ships with a matching plinth for floor mounting, adding a stable footprint at the base of the narrower cabinet.
Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- Two-channel listening rooms with tighter floor space: audiophiles who want 702 S3-level tweeter and midrange performance in a narrower tower.
- Home theatre front channels: builds needing left/right towers that can track dynamic film soundtracks without strain.
- Rooms sized for a slimmer cabinet: spaces where the 702 S3's triple-bass-driver footprint is more than the room calls for.
How It Compares
Step up to the Bowers & Wilkins 702 S3 for a third 6.5-inch Aerofoil bass driver in a wider cabinet with a downward-firing port, extending bass reach a bit further for larger rooms. The 703 S3 uses the identical tweeter and midrange assembly in a narrower enclosure, trading some bass headroom for a smaller footprint.
