Sony STRDH590 145 watt 5.2 Channel AV Receiver 4k 60P Video Passthrough and Bluetooth
Overview
The Sony STR-DH590 is a 5.2-channel A/V receiver built for home theatre on a budget, pairing 145 watts of amplification with 4K/60Hz HDMI passthrough so your setup can keep up with current 4K sources.
Four HDMI inputs and one output cover a Blu-ray player, game console, and streaming box at once, while support for HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision passthrough keeps your picture quality intact end to end.
Built-in D.C.A.C. automatic calibration measures your room with the included microphone and adjusts each channel, so you get balanced surround sound without manually tuning levels yourself.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
We recommend the STR-DH590 for anyone assembling a straightforward 5.1-channel home theatre system who wants real 4K passthrough and automatic calibration without paying for object-based formats like Dolby Atmos they may not use.

Why the Sony STR-DH590 Stands Out
145-Watt Amplification
Rated at 145 watts into 6 ohms, the STR-DH590 has enough power for a wide range of bookshelf and floorstanding speakers in a 5.1-channel layout.
4K/60Hz HDMI Passthrough
Four HDMI inputs and one output support 4K at 60Hz with 4:4:4 chroma, HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision, so your picture quality carries through from source to display.
D.C.A.C. Automatic Calibration
The included calibration microphone measures your room and adjusts each speaker automatically, taking the guesswork out of balancing a 5.1-channel system.
DTS-HD Master Audio Decoding
Full decoding for DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio delivers lossless surround sound from Blu-ray and other high-definition sources.
Dual Subwoofer Pre-Outs
Two subwoofer pre-outs let you run dual subwoofers for more even bass response across your room.
Bluetooth Receiver
Built-in Bluetooth lets you stream music wirelessly from a phone or tablet directly to your home theatre system.
Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- The budget home theatre builder: Someone who wants a 5.1-channel surround system with real 4K passthrough at an accessible price.
- The Blu-ray and streaming viewer: Someone who wants DTS-HD Master Audio decoding and HDR passthrough for movie nights.
- The dual-subwoofer setup: Someone who wants two subwoofer outputs for more even bass in a larger room.
How It Compares
The STR-DH590 steps up from the 2-channel Sony STR-DH190 with full 5.1-channel surround decoding and HDMI video switching, but stays below Sony's STR-AN1000, which adds Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and 8K passthrough for larger systems. Choose the STR-DH590 for a straightforward 5.1-channel home theatre without object-based surround formats.
