Sonos Move 2 Portable Battery-Powered Wifi Streaming and Portable Bluetooth Speaker
Overview
The Sonos Move 2 is built to go wherever the music needs to go, from a backyard party to a weekend at the cottage, without giving up real stereo sound. Two angled tweeters replace the single tweeter on the original Move, so you get a genuine left-right soundstage instead of a mono blob.
An IP56 rating and shock-absorbent housing shrug off rain, dust, drops, and spills, and the swappable 3100 mAh battery delivers up to 24 hours of playback — more than double the original Move.
It connects over Wi-Fi 6 at home and switches to Bluetooth 5.3 on the go, with Sonos Voice Control or Amazon Alexa for hands-free playback.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
The Move 2 is the speaker we point people to when they want one unit that genuinely works indoors and outdoors — not a dedicated outdoor speaker pretending to be portable. Pair two over Bluetooth for an instant backyard or campsite system that doesn't need Wi-Fi at all.

Why the Sonos Move 2 Stands Out
True Stereo From a Portable Speaker
Two angled tweeters and one midwoofer create genuine left-right stereo separation, a step up from the single-tweeter design of the original Move.
24-Hour Battery, Swappable Pack
The 3100 mAh lithium-ion battery delivers up to 24 hours of continuous playback and can be replaced when it eventually wears down, extending the speaker's life.
IP56 Weatherproof and Drop-Resistant
Shock-absorbent materials and an IP56 rating protect against rain, dust, spills, and drops, so it's as comfortable outside as in.
Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3
Stream over Wi-Fi 6 at full quality at home, or switch to Bluetooth 5.3 to keep playing when you're off the network entirely.
Automatic Trueplay Tuning
Automatic Trueplay continually measures the room or outdoor space and adjusts the EQ in real time, with no manual tuning step required.
Sonos Voice Control and Alexa
Control playback hands-free with Sonos Voice Control or Amazon Alexa built in.
Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- Indoor/outdoor listeners: want one speaker that moves between the living room and the backyard.
- Road-trippers and campers: pair two Move 2 or Sonos Play speakers over Bluetooth with no network needed.
- Sonos households: adding a portable speaker that still groups into the whole-home system over Wi-Fi.
How It Compares
Need something smaller and lighter for travel? The Sonos Roam 2 trades some battery life and bass for true pocketability. Want a stationary speaker with no battery to manage? The Sonos Era 100 delivers similar stereo sound built for a fixed spot in the house.
