Pro-Ject Leather-It Turntable Mat
Overview
The Pro-Ject Leather-It is a leather replacement mat for your turntable's stock felt mat. Leather and cork are Pro-Ject's two upgrade paths beyond felt, and both work the same way: they damp resonance from the platter more effectively than felt while holding enough surface contact to avoid the static buildup that felt is prone to.
That static buildup is felt's main weakness — it attracts dust that then transfers to your records. A thick rubber mat solves the static problem but can overdamp the record, adding an isolation effect that leaves audible noise clicks. Leather splits the difference: effective damping, minimal static, and enough contact with the platter to keep the record properly coupled.
It's 2mm thick and sized for a standard 300mm platter, suitable for all turntables, and pairs well with Pro-Ject's own Clamp-It record clamp for even firmer record-to-platter contact.

At 2mm thick, it's close to the thickness of most stock felt mats, so tonearm height (VTA) typically won't need much adjustment after the swap — though it's worth double-checking on your specific turntable.
