Overview
The Kanto REN is a pair of powered bookshelf speakers with HDMI ARC, built to bring true stereo sound to your TV, music and everything connected to them. It combines HDMI ARC, a wide range of digital and analog inputs, intelligent sound modes and automatic subwoofer integration in one streamlined system. It's for anyone who wants better TV sound than built-in speakers, with the left-right separation of two real speakers.
Each speaker pairs a 1-inch silk dome tweeter with a 5.25-inch aluminum concave woofer, powered by Class D amplification with DSP at 100 W RMS (200 W peak). HDMI ARC and CEC let the REN power on with your TV and respond to its remote. Vocal Boost clarifies dialogue, and Night Mode reins in bass and sudden effects for late-night viewing.
Beyond HDMI ARC, there are optical and USB-C inputs (both 24-bit/96 kHz), RCA line-level, a 3.5 mm AUX input and Bluetooth 5.3 with AAC. Connect a subwoofer and the REN automatically sends frequencies below 80 Hz to it, freeing the speakers to deliver clearer mids and highs at higher volume. A USB-C charge port, magnetic grilles and a ¼"-20 threaded mounting hole on the bottom round it out.

Set the speakers apart on either side of the TV rather than close together, since separate left and right cabinets are what give the REN its stereo width. Connect the TV's HDMI ARC port first so the speakers wake with the TV and follow its remote, then use optical or USB-C for a second digital source. If you want more bass for movies, the automatic 80 Hz crossover makes adding a subwoofer straightforward. Kanto suggests its SP6HD, ST, SX or SPH stands to get the tweeters near ear level.
