Kanto REN Powered Speakers with HDMI ARC and Bluetooth 5.3

Overview

Getting real stereo sound out of a TV setup usually means either living with a soundbar's narrow, simulated width or committing to a receiver and a full pair of bookshelf speakers. The Kanto REN sits between those two options.

The REN is a powered speaker pair built around 1-inch silk dome tweeters and 5.25-inch aluminum concave cone woofers, driven by a Class D amplifier rated at 100 watts RMS total (200 watts peak). HDMI ARC with CEC lets it connect directly to a TV and be controlled with the TV remote, while USB-C, optical, RCA, 3.5mm AUX, and Bluetooth 5.3 cover everything else — a computer, a streamer, or a phone.

Two DSP-driven sound modes, Vocal Boost and Night Mode, help dialogue cut through and tone down loud effects for late viewing. When a subwoofer is connected to the sub-out, the REN automatically hands off frequencies below 80Hz to it, and a rear ¼"-20 threaded mount allows stand or wall-mount setups beyond just shelf placement.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

Because the REN's two speakers physically separate the left and right channels the way a soundbar can't, we typically recommend giving them real distance apart on a media console or stands — the wider the spacing within reason, the more the stereo imaging benefits compared to a single-cabinet soundbar in the same spot.

Why the Kanto REN Stands Out

True Stereo Separation

Two independent cabinets can be placed as far apart as the room allows, giving genuine left-right imaging that a single-bar soundbar can't reproduce.

HDMI ARC with CEC

Connects directly to a TV's ARC port and responds to the TV remote for power and volume, without an extra remote in the mix.

Vocal Boost & Night Mode

DSP-driven sound modes bring up quiet dialogue and rein in loud effects, useful for late-night viewing without disturbing anyone else in the house.

100W RMS Class D Power

100 watts RMS (200 watts peak) across 1-inch silk dome tweeters and 5.25-inch aluminum woofers deliver clear, dynamic sound for movies and music alike.

Automatic Subwoofer Crossover

Connecting a subwoofer to the sub-out automatically redirects frequencies below 80Hz to it, letting the main speakers focus on mid and high frequencies.

Six Ways to Connect

HDMI ARC, USB-C, optical, RCA, 3.5mm AUX, and Bluetooth 5.3 cover a TV, a computer, a streaming source, and a phone without needing extra adapters.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The TV Upgrader: replaces built-in TV speakers or an underwhelming soundbar with real stereo separation and HDMI ARC simplicity.
  • The Night Owl Viewer: Night Mode and Vocal Boost keep dialogue clear and effects in check for late viewing.
  • The Multi-Source Listener: six input types mean a TV, a computer, and a phone can all stay connected at once.

How It Compares

Kanto's lineup also includes smaller desktop-focused models like the ORA and UKI for near-field listening at a desk. The REN is built for room-scale placement in front of a TV or media console, with larger cabinets, more power, and HDMI ARC integration that the desktop models don't offer.
