JBL Xtreme 4 - Portable Bluetooth Speaker
Overview
The JBL Xtreme 4 is a portable waterproof Bluetooth speaker with massive JBL Pro Sound, a shoulder strap and up to 24 hours of playtime. It's built for beach days, backyard parties and camping trips where you want big sound and a battery that lasts all day and into the night. Its IP67 rating, built-in power bank and replaceable battery make it a speaker you can take almost anywhere.
Two woofers and two tweeters deliver up to 2 x 30 W plus 2 x 20 W RMS on AC power (2 x 20 W plus 2 x 15 W on battery), and dual JBL passive radiators add deeper bass. AI Sound Boost analyzes the incoming signal in real time to push the drivers to their maximum capability while reducing distortion at high volume. In the JBL Portable app you can pick an EQ preset or fine-tune highs, mids and lows yourself.
Battery life runs up to 24 hours, and Playtime Boost adds up to 6 more. Ten minutes on the charger gives you about two more hours, the USB-C port charges your phone, and the battery can be replaced in three simple steps (replacement sold separately). Rugged rubber bumpers and an IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating handle a sudden downpour or a dunk in the lake. Pair two Xtreme 4s for stereo, connect compatible JBL speakers with Auracast, or use PartyBoost through the app.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
The Xtreme 4 puts out more power on AC than on battery, so when it's set up on a deck or patio near an outlet, leaving it plugged in gives you its full rated output. On a long day away from power, Playtime Boost is the easy way to stretch the battery, and remember that charging a phone from the power bank draws on the same battery. After a day at the pool or beach, rinse it with fresh water and let the charging port dry completely before plugging it in, as JBL recommends.

Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- Beach and Lake Goers: Want a waterproof speaker for all day.
- Backyard Hosts: Want big sound with a long battery.
- Campers and Travellers: Want a power bank and shoulder strap.
How It Compares
Compared with the JBL Charge 6, which uses one woofer and one tweeter, runs up to 24 hours plus 4 with Playtime Boost and weighs about 1 kg with an IP68 rating, the Xtreme 4 steps up to two woofers, two tweeters and dual passive radiators, adds up to 6 hours with Playtime Boost and a replaceable battery, and weighs 2.1 kg with a shoulder strap. Choose the Charge 6 to grab and go, and the Xtreme 4 for bigger sound.
