FiiO FD15 Dynamic Driver In-Ear Monitors
Overview
The FiiO FD15 is a single dynamic driver in-ear monitor built around a large 13.8mm driver, for listeners who want a big, natural, cohesive sound with full mids and deep bass. Two pairs of swappable sound nozzles let you lean the tuning toward clearer treble or richer bass and vocals.
The 13.8mm driver uses a magnalium (magnesium-aluminum) diaphragm with a DLC gasket, and its effective diaphragm area is about 40% larger than the FD5's. An 8.6mm voice coil and an external magnet with up to 1.5T of magnetic flux density give it plenty of energy, and FiiO's 'Tesla Valve' acoustic channels inside the shell extend the bass further. The black nozzle brings out treble detail, while the red nozzle adds bass and lusher vocals.
The shells are 316L medical-grade stainless steel, formed by powder metallurgy, then hand-polished and PVD-plated for a mirror-like finish. FiiO raised the nozzle angle by 6.7° and used curved MMCX connectors for a more comfortable, stable fit. The 4-strand, 480-wire Furukawa monocrystalline copper and silver-plated copper cable uses twist-lock swappable 3.5mm and 4.4mm plugs. The FD15 is Hi-Res Audio certified.

The FD15 is a great pick if you prefer the cohesive sound of one large dynamic driver over a multi-driver design. Try both nozzles. The red nozzle suits vocals and relaxed listening, while the black nozzle gives you more treble clarity for detailed recordings. At 32 ohms and 112dB/mW, it's easy to drive from a phone dongle or portable player, and the 4.4mm plug is there if your source has a balanced output.
