FiiO Echo Portable Digital Audio Player
Overview
The FiiO Echo is a compact portable music player with a classic cassette-player look and a modern metal build. It plays your music library from a microSD card of up to 256GB through 3.5mm and 4.4mm balanced headphone outputs, and it can send music to Bluetooth headphones or speakers or work as a plug-and-play USB DAC for a phone or computer.
Two CS43198 DACs drive the outputs, with the 4.4mm balanced jack delivering up to 260mW per channel into 32 ohms and the 3.5mm jack up to 120mW. It plays DSD up to DSD256 and PCM up to 24bit/192kHz, including WAV, FLAC, APE, MP3, M4A, and OGG, and an independent audio crystal oscillator keeps timing accurate. Built-in EQ presets and custom EQ let you fine-tune the sound.
The body is CNC-machined from 6000-series aluminum-magnesium alloy, and the 2.39-inch colour display shows album art, lyrics, and retro UIs like spinning cassettes and VU meters. In-line headphone controls are supported, there's a built-in TXT reader, and the 1100mAh battery runs about 14 hours.

The Echo is a great first dedicated music player, and a fun one. Load a microSD card with your library and use the 4.4mm balanced output if your IEMs or headphones support it. FiiO rates it at more than twice the power of the 3.5mm jack into 32 ohms. Its Bluetooth sends audio using SBC, so it's best for casual wireless listening. For the best sound quality, stay wired. When you use it as a USB DAC with a phone, you can turn off charging so it doesn't drain the phone's battery.
