FiiO DISC Portable Digital Audio Player
Overview
The FiiO DISC (from FiiO's SNOWSKY line) is a compact portable digital audio player shaped like a classic CD player, with a round 1.8-inch display that shows album art, lyrics, and custom screensavers. It plays music from a microSD card of up to 2TB, so you can carry a large lossless library in the palm of your hand. There's no disc inside; it's fully solid-state.
Two CS43131 DACs run in a fully balanced circuit with an independent supply for the headphone amp, and the 4.4mm balanced output delivers up to 280mW per channel into 32 ohms. There's also a 3.5mm output that doubles as a coaxial digital output. An X2000 dual-core chip runs a custom Linux-based music OS, and file playback reaches 384kHz/32bit and DSD128.
Bluetooth 5.4 sends music to wireless headphones and speakers over LDAC, AAC, or SBC, and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi adds AirPlay streaming. The DISC also works as a USB DAC for a phone or computer, or as a USB digital transport. A 1450mAh battery gives about 12 hours of playback and recharges in about 1.5 hours, and the slim aluminum body weighs about 77g.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
The DISC is a fun, very capable player for anyone who'd rather not stream from a phone all day. Load a large microSD card before you start, since the card is where your library lives. If your IEMs or headphones have a 4.4mm balanced cable, use it. FiiO rates that output at more than twice the power of the 3.5mm jack into 32 ohms. On the desk, plug it into a computer and it doubles as a USB DAC.

Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- The Style-Conscious Listener: Wants a player that looks different from a phone or rectangle.
- The Library Owner: Wants a large microSD music library in a pocket-sized player.
- The Balanced IEM Owner: Wants 4.4mm balanced output from a small player.
How It Compares
Most compact players use a rectangular screen and body. The DISC packs dual CS43131 DACs, a 4.4mm balanced output, LDAC, AirPlay, and USB DAC mode into a 68mm round player styled like a classic CD player.
