Overview
The Dual CS 529 is a fully automatic high-end turntable that Dual calls the reference for fully automatic turntables in the 21st century. It combines a classic Dual twin gimbal tonearm with Bluetooth, so you can stream your records to wireless speakers or headphones, or start and control playback from a smartphone or tablet.
The tonearm uses a solid aluminium gimbal construction with four pivot ball bearings for precise record tracking, and it's fully adjustable: tracking force from 0 to 4g, adjustable anti-skating, and cartridges from 5 to 9g on a removable headshell. An Ortofon 2M Red cartridge comes factory installed. A regulated DC motor with optical speed control drives the 305mm aluminium die-cast platter through a precision-cut belt, with wow and flutter below ±0.08% at 33, 45, and 78 rpm.
Operate it from the controls on the turntable or through Dual's app over Bluetooth, which also adds a repeat function. Bluetooth 5.2 with aptX HD sends audio to a wireless speaker or headphones, while the RCA output and built-in phono preamp with a PHONO/LINE switch connect to any amplifier or powered speakers. The MDF plinth uses a subchassis with rubber dampers and sits on elastomer feet.

The CS 529 suits listeners who want a proper hi-fi turntable but also like the ease of controlling it from their phone. If you plan to use Bluetooth headphones or a wireless speaker, set the PHONO/LINE switch to LINE, as the manual notes there's no Bluetooth sound in PHONO mode. With an amplifier that has a phono input, set it to PHONO and use the amp's phono stage. When the stylus wears, the replacement is the Ortofon Stylus 2M Red.
