Chord Electronics MOJO 2 Portable DAC Headphone Amplifier
Overview
The Chord Electronics Mojo 2 is a pocket-size DAC and headphone amplifier that turns a phone, tablet, or computer into a serious headphone source. Chord, which designs and builds it in the UK, calls it the most advanced portable DAC and headphone amplifier in the world, and it's a multiple What Hi-Fi Best DAC award winner. Everything is built around a powerful custom-coded FPGA processor.
Its headline feature is what Chord calls the world's first lossless DSP: a 'UHD DSP' digital tone control that lets you adjust EQ without degrading sound quality, which Chord says gives Mojo 2 unrivalled compatibility with today's wide range of headphones. A fourth control sphere opens a menu for mute, crossfeed, button lock, switchable USB-C charging, and tone adjustment, and Chord's WTA filtering now runs on 40 DSP cores for better transparency and lower noise.
Five digital inputs cover coaxial, dual-data coax, optical, Micro USB, and USB-C, with playback up to 768kHz and DSD256 via DoP. The current Mojo 2 has 3.5mm and 4.4mm headphone outputs and drives headphones up to 800 ohms. Chord also improved battery management, with faster charging, a 75% reduction in power loss, and a 9% capacity gain, and you can take Mojo 2 wireless by adding the Poly streamer.
Simcoe Audio Video Insight
Mojo 2 is the easiest way to hear what a Chord DAC does: plug it into your phone or laptop and your existing headphones. Spend a few minutes with the UHD DSP tone controls, since they let you tailor the sound to each pair of headphones without the usual loss in quality. If you want wireless streaming later, Chord's Poly pairs with Mojo 2 to turn it into a streamer.

Buyer's Guide
Who It's For
- The Mobile Listener: Wants a big step up from a phone's headphone output.
- The Headphone Collector: Wants EQ that adapts to different headphones without losing quality.
- The Desk-and-Travel User: Wants one compact DAC for a laptop at work and a phone on the go.
How It Compares
Mojo 2 is Chord's pocket-size DAC and headphone amp. The transportable Hugo 2 offers built-in Bluetooth, RCA line outputs, and an included remote, while Qutest is Chord's standalone home DAC with RCA outputs only.
