Overview
The Bryston 9B Cubed (9B³) is a modular multi-channel power amplifier available in 3, 4, or 5 channel configurations, with each channel rated at 200 watts into 8 ohms and up to 300 watts into 4 ohms. Channels can be added or removed later, so the amp can grow with a home theatre or multi-zone system.
Each channel is fully independent, with its own power supply and toroidal transformer. Bryston says that means high output on one channel won't be a drag on the others, keeping every note dynamic and clear. The 9B³ also brings Bryston's patented Salomie circuit to a five-channel form factor for the first time, with distortion rated under 0.005% (THD+N, 20Hz to 20kHz at rated power).
Network monitoring and control is built into every unit: from the amp's own webpage you can power it on or off, check temperature, see clipping warnings, mute individual channels, and update firmware. Single-ended and balanced inputs, switchable 23dB or 29dB gain, a DC trigger, fanless convection cooling, and a SoftStart sequence that won't trip breakers round it out.
