Bowers & Wilkins 803 D4 - Flagship 800 Series Diamond Floor Standing Speakers - Black (Pair)

Overview

The Bowers & Wilkins 803 D4 is the most compact headed model in the 800 Series Diamond, a three-way floorstanding speaker that brings a dedicated Turbine Head midrange enclosure to a smaller footprint. It combines a 1-inch Diamond dome tweeter in a Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top, a 5-inch Continuum cone FST midrange, and two 7-inch Aerofoil cone bass units.

Its three-box construction isolates the midrange cone from the bass cones with the Turbine Head enclosure. The Reverse Wrap cabinet is made from a continuous curved section of wood that B&W says resists resonance and gives better dispersion, Matrix bracing reinforces it internally, and the two Aerofoil bass cones sit in solid aluminium bass pods. Biomimetic Suspension and an Anti-Resonance Plug are also part of the design.

B&W rates the 803 D4 at 19Hz to 28kHz (±3dB), with a range of 16Hz to 35kHz, 90dB sensitivity, and an 8-ohm nominal load (minimum 3.0 ohms), suited to amplifiers from 50W to 500W.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

At 62.15 kg each and 1,165 mm tall, the 803 D4 is a serious install: plan the delivery path and a solid floor before it arrives. Its 50W to 500W amplifier range means it pairs best with a capable amplifier, and we are happy to help match one to your room.
