Overview
The Bowers & Wilkins 705 S3 is a two-way 700 Series stand-mount speaker with a Decoupled Carbon Dome tweeter in a Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top enclosure, which B&W says evolved from the latest generation of 800 Series Diamond. A 6.5-inch Continuum cone bass/midrange driver sits below it.
The tweeter housing is milled from a single block of aluminium and decoupled from the cabinet, and the Carbon Dome raises the breakup threshold to 47kHz. The bass/midrange driver sits in a new 'pod' housing on a subtly curved baffle, and a Flowport vent handles the low end.
B&W rates the 705 S3 at 50Hz to 28kHz (±3dB), with a range of 45Hz to 33kHz, 88dB sensitivity, and an 8-ohm nominal load, suited to amplifiers from 30W to 120W. Stands are sold separately.

Of the three standard 700 Series stand-mounts, only the 705 S3 has Tweeter-on-Top, so it is the one to choose if you want that design without floorstanding towers. B&W designed it mainly for the FS-700 S3 stand and recommends the tweeters sit at roughly ear height. The terminals support bi-wiring or bi-amping once the links are removed.
