AudioQuest NRG-Z3 Zero-Tech Low-Noise 3-Pole AC Power Cable 1M

Overview

Every component in a system runs on AC power, and the cable that delivers it can bring RF noise along with the current. The AudioQuest NRG-Z3 Power Cable is a 3-pole AC cable with an IEC C13 connector for DACs, powered desktop speakers, game consoles, streamers, and other components.

Perfect-Surface Copper+ conductors minimize distortion caused by grain boundaries and surface discontinuities, in a Semi-Solid Concentric topology that reduces strand interaction. ZERO-Tech combines low DC resistance with zero characteristic impedance to deliver uncompressed transients on demand.

RF/ND-Tech uses a patented common-mode phase-cancelling array to reduce the RF noise a ground wire picks up, which would otherwise bypass a component's power supply. Direction-controlled, silver-plated drain wires carry shield noise to ground through the third pin.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

Plug the power cable into a power conditioner or a clean wall outlet, and keep it apart from your signal cables where you can rather than bundling them together. Choose a length that reaches without stretching or coiling a large surplus behind the rack.

Why the AudioQuest NRG-Z3 Power Cable Stands Out

Perfect-Surface Copper+

Smooth, pure Perfect-Surface processed conductors minimize distortion caused by grain boundaries and surface discontinuities.

ZERO-Tech

Combines low DC resistance with zero characteristic impedance to deliver uncompressed transients on demand.

RF/ND-Tech

A patented common-mode phase-cancelling array with proprietary dielectric materials reduces RF noise picked up by the ground wire.

Silver-Plated Drain Wires

Direction-controlled silver-plated shield conductors drain RF noise from the line and neutral shields to ground through the third pin.

Semi-Solid Concentric Conductors

Strands are packed tightly and never change position in the bundle, significantly reducing strand-interaction distortion.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

Conductors are controlled for RF-noise directionality so induced noise is dissipated and drained properly.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The Desktop Listener: Powers a DAC or powered speakers from a desk or computer setup.
  • The Home Theatre Owner: Powers a streamer, game console, or source component in an AV system.
  • The System Builder: Wants consistent AudioQuest power and signal cabling through a system.

How It Compares

NRG-Z3 is the most advanced of the three NRG 3-pole cables here. Compared with NRG-Y3, it moves from Long-Grain Copper to Perfect-Surface Copper+ conductors and adds RF/ND-Tech.

AudioQuest NRG-Z3 Zero-Tech Low-Noise 3-Pole AC Power Cable 1M FAQs

What is the AudioQuest NRG-Z3 used for?

It is an AC power cable (IEC C13 to North American 3-prong wall plug) for DACs, powered desktop speakers, game consoles, streamers, and other components.

What conductors does it use?

Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) in a Semi-Solid Concentric topology, which minimizes distortion from grain boundaries and surface discontinuities.

Is it directional?

Yes. AudioQuest direction-controls its conductors so induced noise is dissipated and drained properly, and marks arrows on the connectors where applicable.

What is the maximum RMS current capacity of the AudioQuest NRG-Z3 Power Cable?

The AudioQuest NRG-Z3 Power Cable has a maximum RMS current capacity of 15 amps at 120VAC 60 Hz.
