Audioquest Monsoon AC Power Cable with PSC+ Copper & Noise Dissipation

Overview

Source components and amplifiers draw their power through the AC cable, and its design affects both noise and how freely current flows when the music demands it. The AudioQuest Monsoon Power Cable is a 3-pole AC cable with an IEC C13 connector for high-quality source components and amplifiers.

Its True-Concentric conductors place Perfect-Surface Copper+ on the outside of a Long-Grain Copper core, so the conductors are essentially all PSC+, and AudioQuest says this metal and geometry greatly reduce transient intermodulation distortion. Compared with Semi-Solid Concentric conductors, True Concentric further reduces strand interaction.

ZERO-Tech combines low DC resistance with zero characteristic impedance to deliver uncompressed high-current transients, and RF/ND-Tech uses a patented common-mode phase-cancelling array to reduce RF noise picked up by the ground wire. All conductors are direction-controlled.

Simcoe Audio Video Insight

Plug the power cable into a power conditioner or a clean wall outlet, and keep it apart from your signal cables where you can rather than bundling them together. Choose a length that reaches without stretching or coiling a large surplus behind the rack.

Why the AudioQuest Monsoon Power Cable Stands Out

True-Concentric PSC+ and LGC

PSC+ on the outside of a Long-Grain Copper core greatly reduces transient intermodulation distortion.

ZERO-Tech

Combines low DC resistance with zero characteristic impedance to deliver uncompressed transients on demand.

RF/ND-Tech

A patented common-mode phase-cancelling array with proprietary dielectric materials reduces RF noise picked up by the ground wire.

Direction-Controlled Conductors

Conductors are controlled for RF-noise directionality so induced noise is dissipated and drained properly.

C13 to North American Wall Plug

Fits the standard IEC C13 inlet on many source components and amplifiers.

Buyer's Guide

Who It's For

  • The Hi-Fi Owner: Wants a high-performance power cable for a source component or amplifier.
  • The Home Theatre Owner: Powers a processor, receiver, or amplifier in an AV system.
  • The System Builder: Wants consistent AudioQuest power and signal cabling through a system.

How It Compares

AudioQuest's NRG cables use Semi-Solid Concentric conductors. Monsoon moves to True-Concentric conductors, which AudioQuest says further reduce strand interaction for lower distortion and improved resolution, and it is aimed at source components and amplifiers.

Audioquest Monsoon AC Power Cable with PSC+ Copper & Noise Dissipation FAQs

What is the AudioQuest Monsoon used for?

It is an AC power cable (IEC C13 to North American 3-prong wall plug) for high-quality source components and amplifiers.

What conductors does it use?

True-Concentric conductors with Perfect-Surface Copper+ on the outside of a Long-Grain Copper core.

Is it directional?

Yes. AudioQuest direction-controls its conductors so induced noise is dissipated and drained properly, and marks arrows on the connectors where applicable.
